Wichita Tribe and Child Care Facilities Closed Monday, January 22, 2024 Due to Inclement Weather The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and Child Care Facilities will be closed on Monday, January 22, 2024 due to inclement weather. The policy is if the local public schools close for inclement weather, the Tribe will be closed also. We will be monitoring the weather and road conditions for Tuesday. Please stay off the roads if they become slick and hazardous and keep your family safe.-Terri Parton, President-Wichita and Affiliated Tribes From the policy: A. Other Circumstances: Administrative leave is given under certain conditions when normal operations are interrupted by events beyond the control of management or employees, i.e., inclement weather, etc. If the schools are closed in the area where the employee lives, due to inclement weather, then those employees do not have to come into work. Employees must notify their Supervisor of the school closing. If Anadarko Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, then the Tribe will close also.

The reason I love my job is because at Connecticut Voices for Children we are all working to ensure that one day Connecticut will be a thriving and equitable state where all children achieve their full potential. It is not just a tag line but genuinly the truth. Creating a better Connecticut starts one step at a time. One data point, one report, one recomendation gets us one step closer to the policies we need to make a real difference for children and families across CT. Thank you to my colleagues for your hard work and rigerous research putting this report together. Early Child Care and Education is an effective policy lever for reducing disparities and closing the learning gap by ensuring kids are ready to learn by the time they start school. It also provides the opportunity for parents and caregivers to enter the workforce increasing household income and bolstering the economy. The research speaks for itself. Access to Early Childcare and Education is important for the future success of children and the overall wellbeing of families yet increasing cost can make it prohibitivly expensive even with state and federal subsidy programs. At the same time, we know that care facilities struggle to retain staff because providers are chronically under compensated. So how do we create a system that provides high-quality accessible care while ensuring that providers receive a fair wage? Check out our recomendations and read the full report for more information.
