EVP, Chief Brand Officer at Mattel, Inc.

As part of Mattel’s commitment to creating more inclusive play experiences for all, I’m delighted to share 80% of our global games portfolio will be colorblind accessible by the end of 2024.    Such important work from Ray Adler and the entire Games team in partnering with experts and individuals who experience colorblindness, including some of our very own Mattel designers, to develop custom solutions for games, such as, patterns, tactile clues, and symbols to ensure color was not the only way to differentiate. Now, fan-favorites like UNO, Phase 10, Dos, Blokus, and Tumblin’ Monkeys will be even more accessible for everyone at game night!    In the spirit of this exciting initiative and leading into the start of summer camp season, Mattel Games will be donating colorblind accessible games to local YMCA summer camps across the U.S. The donation will serve as an important resource to celebrate this milestone and empower children to reach their full potential through inclusive play. That's wonderful! I am blessed not to have this condition/issue, but recently I met someone who does. I didn't really understood the challenge until I shared my notes with this individual and realized it wouldn't work as well as it does for me. I think the more we educate ourselves, the more we can make a better environment of inclusiveness for everyone.
