🔵 🔴 ⚪ What pride to count these champions in France! Luxury is a sector for which France has no equivalent 👇 👜 In the top 10 brands in the world, there are 6 French brands! We don't weigh domination. These brands are LVMH, Chanel, Hermès, Cartier, Dior and Saint Laurent. 👜Besides, there is an intruder in this list, and a brand that is missing. It's up to you to find them. 👜 It is a colossal market that will be close to 400 billion euros in turnover (Worldwide) 👜 According to the Comité Colbert report, more than one million direct and indirect jobs depend on the luxury sector (including wines and spirits and luxury hotels), i.e. about 3.5% of the French working population 👜 To do even better, we produce a lot in France (mostly) and we sell abroad. Basically, we enrich the country, we pay taxes in France, we create quality jobs by selling outside the country. In terms of trade balance and flow, it's perfect. 👜 Durable. Meet Daniel Mayer, Brand Director at SELECTED. With more than two years since joining our company, Daniel shares the story of how he relocated from Germany to Denmark – and what shaped his career from trainee to brand director. Daniel, aged 41 grew up in southern Germany with his two older brothers. Sports were a big part of his youth and his interest in snowboarding, tennis and football eventually led to his first job in retail with the world’s leading sporting goods retailer of Intersport. After finishing his studies in textile business management, he joined Esprit at 23, working his way up from trainee through sales to management. And after 15 years with the international clothing brand, he met with Anders Holch Povlsen, our owner and CEO, leading to Daniel's relocation to Denmark and the beginning of his journey with SELECTED FEMME/HOMME. “I was fascinated with the values of SELECTED – and of BESTSELLER in general. I saw a lot of potential in the products and the fact that it was the first brand to offer both women and menswear in the BESTSELLER family. And I still do today," Daniel explains. While the past two and a half years have focused on elevating the product and expanding the business internationally, one thing has remained key for Daniel. “What makes SELECTED a great place is the people. I think people who share the same mission and values can make a difference. If you believe in something together, you feel motivated to go the extra mile, and that can lead to extraordinary results. This is a mindset I keep for my personal life as well; I want to spend time with people who inspire me and give me energy to live a happy and healthy life.” Outside of work, Daniel lives in the Danish city of Vejle with his wife and two kids. And the active lifestyle that shaped his career from the early years is still part of his every day, although in a different fashion. “I clear my head best by running outdoors, and in the dark winter months, the home racing bike also does the trick. I also try to get out on the slopes at least once a year.
