It’s almost like it’s not official till it’s a social media graphic 😅 PJ Bellantoni and I have been working on the foundation and visibility of Bold City Sports for Change for the past year. We’ve been intentionally creating something solid so we can move with maximum impact. And even before that, Bold City Sports for Change was AP’s 3 KEYS, where the vision and all the ideas started. We’ll take the acknowledgment and support however and whenever it comes. This spring and summer are looking like opportunities for amazing impact, starting with the hiring of a few incredible interns. I never realized how much people believe in our mission to create and enhance cultures in athletics that make athletes feel more HUMAN till we started interviewing intern candidates. We’ve seen the best and the worst of athletics…and we strongly believe that mental development, intangible skills, and positive cultures that encourage true growth allow athletes to excel in and out of their sports. We believe it enough to create an entire business model around it. This may be the first time some people are noticing what we’re actually doing…but it’s not the beginning and we’ve got many, many more years of impact ahead of us! In terms of professional development, I certainly do believe that we, as experienced professionals, have a moral obligation to prepare the next generation for the world they are preparing to navigate and lead. We have significant generational divides in our society that can be reduced and mitigated with intentionality and investment. Mr Jones perfectly captures this with his point about teaching young professionals how to partner, build, develop, and construct. I know many leaders around Kansas City who invest heavily in mentorship, supporting wonderful internship and scholarship opportunities. These are the bricks upon which our future is built.

She emphasizes the importance of networking and applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios for professional growth. -Sports Mentality in Careers: Michael's athletic background instilled a commitment to continuous improvement, emphasizing the shift from a job to a career mindset for success in the industry. In conclusion, navigating the sports industry demands dedication, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. These insights offer invaluable guidance for professionals seeking success in this dynamic field.

I've had the chance to work with some incredible female founders... And now I get to work under the guidance of Laura Davies and Sarah Andrews as a content strategy intern for Mumie! One thing I've learned from working in marketing is that I need to be invested in the company's mission and values. Which is exactly what I saw in Mumie. ✨It's an app for new mums to help them navigate their postnatal journey. ✨It serves to inform and empower mums in their recovery. ✨It is a community for mums so that they feel seen, heard, and never alone. ✨It provides the right help and support for early postnatal women and for women up to 2 years into their journey. ✨It resonates with the challenges, emotions, and experiences that postnatal women deal with. And why do I feel so invested in this mission? I'm not a mother myself, but my mother had to go through all of this and I have friends who have been through childbirth. Plus, the facts are startling: ➡️More than 1/3 of women experience lasting health problems after birth (Lancet 2023). ➡️Between 2019-2021 over 300 women died within 12 months after pregnancy (MBBRACE 2023). ➡️Postnatal support focuses on the health and wellbeing of the baby, often excluding the mother (DHSC 2022). Internships are all about learning new skill sets, but it's also about opening yourself up to others' experiences. I know so many female founders who also juggle being a mother and this is my opportunity to be able to truly understand and empathise with their stories. #newinternship #femalefounders #motherhood

We are lucky to have a great relationship with TiPS and their incredible youth leaders. Wow😳. This popped up on our fb feed. 7 years ago Scott and Hayden sitting on the roof of our downtown McKinney office having a cold one. Time is flying by. We’re thankful to reflect and know we had Hayden, with Matthew and Gloria interning, and the team is still together 7 YEARS later. We’ve expanding to Sydney and tripled in size since then. I am putting together an Employer Directory to make it easier for Vancouver Island University students from all programs to find relevant organizations that they might be interested in working for, both locally and nationally. If your organization hires students or graduates for employment or internship opportunities, and would like to be considered to be included on this resource, please send me: - a company description, - the types of internships/employment roles that you might hire students or graduates for, - and a link to your company's career/internship page! Even if you are not able to attend Career Fairs and other in-person events at VIU, being on this resource will increase visibility of your organization and opportunities among our students and alum, as this will be a resource that we direct them to for career exploration purposes. This is a project that I have had on my mind for some time, after consulting with many students seeking employment and internship opportunities in the local community and who were not finding all the relevant opportunities and organizations based on a simple Google search. The goal is to provide a snapshot of the organizations that provide high-quality opportunities for students, and to help students see the multiple types of roles that might exist within an organization.
