CATF recommends the following measures to reduce diesel emissions across the U.S.: A federal Zero Carbon Fuel Standard that limits the carbon intensity of energy carriers sold into the transportation market and steadily builds demand for emissions-free clean electricity and zero-carbon fuels; Government- and corporate-funded investments in propulsion technologies that can displace diesel engines, including battery-electric drivetrains for some vehicles and hydrogen-powered fuel cells for others; Federal funding programs—like one in the recently enacted Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act—that help cover the cost of replacing diesel engines with emissions-free technologies; A robust implementation of the Justice40 Initiative to deliver 40 percent of the benefits of relevant Federal programs to “disadvantaged communities that have been historically marginalized, underserved, and overburdened by pollution” Increased funding for the federal Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) program, with a portion of that funding devoted to zero-carbon technologies. The map focuses on the various impacts of particulate matter (PM), which according to the California Air Resources Board is “a complex mixture of solids and aerosols composed of small droplets of liquid, dry solid fragments, and solid cores with liquid coatings.” The map specifically focuses on the negative impacts from fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, which is comprised of particulate matter particles with diameters measuring 2.5 micrometers or less. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found that short- and long-term exposure to PM2.5 can cause harmful health impacts such as heart attacks, strokes, worsened asthma, and early death. It uses emissions and other data projections from the U.S. EPA for 2023. Governments knowingly increase kids “cancer” rates, from school bus diesel air pollution, while kids are in their possession? Wikipedia states that : 1. A carcinogen (/kɑːrˈsɪnədʒən/) is any agent that promotes the development of cancer. 2. Diesel exhaust is a Group 1 carcinogen, which causes lung cancer and has a positive association with bladder cancer.[2][3][4][5][6] It contains several substances that are also listed individually as human carcinogens by the IARC.[7] Governments know that increasing pollution, toxins & carcinogens in the air children breath from school bus diesel exhaust will reduce their health &/or lifespans! Governments mandate by law that children be educated & yet knowingly expose children to excess physical & mental harm through increased air pollution & carcinogens from their school bus exhaust that kids are forced to breath! It’s known that diesel exhaust from school buses increase cancer causing carcinogens & air pollution in the school bus when children are in the governments possession & being transported to school to be educated by law. So what can we do globally about it? It’s simple political party & government policy: Children shall not be exposed to increased air pollution harm, when in their governments possession or by law!

As we heavily invest in reducing emissions from different industries , we must also consider the environmental impact of everyday activities, such as the daily school run. The emissions generated from picking up and dropping off students contribute significantly to air pollution. To address this, several potential solutions can be implemented such as Establishing Safe Bike Lanes, Carpool Programs, Walking School Buses. It is time we prioritize sustainable solutions in all aspects of our lives, including how we get our kids to school. Electrifying school buses is major step in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change. But eliminating tailpipe emissions also removes the particulate pollution that is harming our children's health. Plus, with federal rebates for upfront purchase and lower ongoing operations costs, electric school buses will save school districts money to go towards other resources for their core mission to education our kids. Newton County School System didn't quite make the cut on the most recent grant cycle for the EPA's #CleanSchoolBus Rebate Program, but it is super-critical that we continue to apply in every cycle. https://lnkd.in/eu2jMbBm

PROVEN: FINING high polluting vehicles HUGELY benefits our KIDS! If you care about your kids health and own an ICE vehicle, you need to carefully think through the impact. "Researchers found that, a year after the ultra-low emissions zone took effect, 2 out of every 5 London students in the study had switched from “passive” to “active” ways of getting to school. So instead of being chauffeured to school by their parents, the students started walking, biking, scootering, or taking public transit." “Walking and biking and scootering to school is better for the child, better for the family, and better for the environment. It’s a great way for children to start their day.” Alison Macpherson, Epidemiologist, York University in Toronto It's now 5 years since London introduced their ground breaking Ultra Low Emissions Zones, and some of the impacts are extremely positive. Basically, what they did was add a fee for older ICE vehicles PLUS a congestion charge to enter Central London. EVs are exempt from both. This significantly reduced ICE trips and therefore air pollution, which created a whole host of benefits. Not least of which was that kids became more active by increasing the times that they would bike or walk to school, as identified by the study in the link below. They simply can now breathe better when exercising. It's well known that daily physical activity significantly improves health and learning abilities with children. So, in effect, the ULEZ has made London's kids healthier and smarter. The point is this: before you buy your next car, think about what impact you'd like to have on your kids and the kids of others around you, and make sure it's a positive one.
