At Linea Aqua, our dedication to community well-being has taken a significant step forward. We are thrilled to announce that we've successfully facilitated access to clean water by installing a new water supply system at Meethirigala K.V. directly benefiting 450 students. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that every student has access to the basic necessities that are crucial for their health, well-being and educational success. Understanding the importance of long-term sustainability, we also conducted an engaging awareness session for the students, focusing on water conservation. During this session, we discussed practical ways to conserve water and encouraged the students to implement these best practices not just at school but also in their households. By educating the younger generation, we aim to foster a culture of conservation that will ripple through their families and communities, ensuring that the impact of this project extends far beyond the school grounds. Together, we are making a tangible impact ensuring that every drop counts for a better future... #WaterSmartProject #Sustainability #Education #WaterConservation #WaterForAll #CommunityImpact #LineaAqua

Mbathio’s Story Early in the morning before the sun goes up, the 10-year-old girl Mbatio starts the day with a heavy responsibility and a heavy bucket of water. Her mother depends on her to fetch water for the family. She lives in a small village named Gouye Sombel, which has struggled for a long time with water scarcity. She has to commute miles every day to fetch water before going to school like many other girls in her community. That explains the reason they are exhausted during class. Mbatio’s story is ubiquitous, and it portrays the everyday struggle of girls in many communities around Gouye Sombel. The areas face water challenges such as the depletion of groundwater levels and the contamination of the available water resources. The local water infrastructure built a long time ago is obsolete and cannot handle anymore today's demand and climate change conditions. The dependence of the community on distant water wells and the total lack of modern conservative techniques hinder girls’ education, Health, and economic opportunity. Committed to drawing change in her community, Mbatio’s interest in furthering her study in water resources and environmental science arose. Her eagerness to acquire knowledge in water and environmental science was conspicuous. No, later her Environmental science teacher who is at the same time her mentor, suggested she participate in a city-wide competition for young scholars. The challenge was to come up with innovative solutions to local water issues. Mbathio's project focused on integrating traditional knowledge with modern technology. She proposed two ideas. The first one was Rainwater Harvesting by utilizing rooftops of homes and schools to collect and store rainwater for accessibility during dry time and the second was a water management community Education program that consisted of teaching people about water conservation techniques and the necessity of clean water sources. With the guidance of her teachers and support from, her family and the local community, Mbathio started working on her project. They began by installing a rainwater harvesting system in her school that collected runoff from the roof into adequate storage tanks which are filtered and used back for the school’s sanitation purposes. The community education program was as important, they organized workshops and demonstrations that taught the local community how to build their rainwater harvesting systems. Without much surprise, her project won the first prize on the podium in the Competition and brought attention to the water challenges faced by her community leading the local government to take note of her life-changing solutions in their strategies. In continuing the wave of change to reach youth, I am Mame Diarra from Senegal excited to share with you my water story and echo the impact by submitting it to the #YouthBook under the theme of of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia.

SOL FOUNDATION’S ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION At SOL foundation, we strive to integrate education with environmental awareness. We believe in creating a world where everyone has access to basic needs such as: food, water and education. SOL foundation focuses on introducing nature to children by initiating projects within school yards: Planting trees to create shaded learning environments and outdoor classrooms, gardens are raised in order to provide nutritious food directly from the school, where every child can eat their fill without having to feel guilty or starved. The school gardens are also integrated into the curriculum in order to enlighten the children on the process of turning a seed into a magnificent tree or plant that yields fruit. The growth will not only provide the children with a sense of accomplishment but also appreciation for the process that brings the food to the table from the garden. As with each tree planted, we get closer to a better future where we can reduce climate change, purify the air, save water, provide shelter for animals, reduce the global warming effect, have a renewable energy source etc. “Planting a tree is an act of charity”, let us all work together for a better tomorrow. #thesolfoundation #education #global #makingachange #schoolgarden #communitygarden #positiveimpact #independence #empowerment

📢Water companies must urgently invest in sewage infrastructure to provide solutions to the outrageous sewage spills issue. Regulators must also hold them to account. We can also hold them to account via our citizen science programmes to push for action. One of our main goals at Thames21 is to connect communities to their local rivers, enabling people to enjoy, care for and protect their green and blue spaces. Having said that, volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Besides participating in river clean-ups and vegetation management tasks, volunteers can also carry out research and monitoring duties and become citizen scientists. "Every new school in England is being built in an area with unsafe levels of air pollution, according to a damning report that says thousands of children will experience “alarmingly poor” air quality." “The public health implications of avoidable childhood exposure to poor air quality could have significant effects on both the quality-adjusted life years of the population and financial health expenditure in the United Kingdom.” At the West Midlands National Park Lab we are driven by the need to improve quality of life, health and well-being and the environment for all communities. This is why we are working across silos, disciplines and political boundaries to drive a joined-up and strategic view of landscape. This matters. For too long schools have been built in the easiest place and not the best place.
