If "Don't call it a comeback, I been here for years!" was a brand. I watched a video on IG recently where a little girl was so happy - moved to tears - that her Daddy got her the Stanley Cup she wanted for Christmas. I was so confused and CLEARLY late to the Stanley Cup wave. I had to investigate because all I saw was a cup with a handle. Why would a child want one for Christmas? The Stanley Cup Quencher has a fascinating backstory. Historically, women were not the target audience for the brand. Thankfully, the company decided to listen to women (women and sales speak volumes), specifically the early influencers who put the brand on among a whole new demographic. Social listening is invaluable as an entrepreneur! What are users saying about your product across social media? How are they demonstrating the various ways to engage with your product? Stanley not only found an untapped market in women consumers, they also discovered a new way to position their product as a lifestyle and wellness brand. Listen and act on the learnings. Stanley's pivot felt organic because it came directly from consumers. As someone who invested in a water bottle with literal bells and whistles (proud owner of a Hidrate Spark!), I am here for anything that gets you to drink more water. Find what works for you. If it does that, go awf! Yes, there may be some people only carrying their Stanley Cup Quencher around because it matches their outfit or as a status symbol, but I see value in that, too. As the article points out, people are trying to spark their JOY. Finding joy in the smallest of things may be a greater value add than drinking more water. Joy, like water, is necessary for a healthier and (ideally) longer life.

From what I see, men outnumber women for brand partnerships, influencer campaigns, and "advisory roles" (whatever THAT means) on LinkedIn. Why is that?? Here's some stats for you about women's buying power: In the U.S., women account for 85% of all consumer spending, and they are responsible for a growing number of highly significant buying decisions, including 93% of food and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, 92% of vacations, 91% of new homes, as well as 89% of bank accounts, 80% of health care. On the negative side: Women make up only about 26% of sales managers and many I see are sales related. Women only hold about 10% of CEO positions in Fortune 500 companies. But it's growing... And so too should the voices of women. LinkedIn has powerful female voices that put out amazing content every single day. My feed is chock full of great examples. It's time we start paying more attention, start listening, and start partnering with these women. So absolutely can continue with your SaaS bro sales world.. but... I spent the morning today with some incredible women at the CreatorIQ Connect in NYC! ✨ Here are some great key takeaways from a conversation with Julian Greene, Head of Creator Partnerships at Flagship, Content Creator Kristina Zias, and Jessy Grossman, Founder of Women in Influencer Marketing, on how to create successful creator and brand partnerships. 🤝 It's essential to have good communication and set clear goals. Brands should outline their KPIs and clarify what they truly want to achieve with the partnership. We all know that sometimes brands mention awareness, but what they really mean is sales (coming from personal experience) 👀. Something Julian Greene reinforced is that brands should be clear about their goals and maintain open communication with creators to understand how they can help achieve these goals. I love when Kristina said that she appreciates when brands looking to collaborate send a personalized message, mentioning something about her life or content. It shows that they are familiar with her work, and it can really help build a relationship and loyalty. A great piece of advice is to build a relationship with creators as an individual before partnering with them. And I personally vouch for that! There's a chance the creator will be more open to collaborate and go that extra mile if they are already familiar with you as a person, especially if you are part of their community and engage with their content. Lastly, both brands and creators want the campaign to be successful. So, align on how success will be measured. A great point Jessy Grossman mentioned is that brands and creators should share information with each other, have open conversations, identify areas for improvement, and discuss how to get it right next time. Top tip for any brands/companies looking for last minute influencers to attend International Women’s Day events… Seeing as the motto for this year is “invest in women” perhaps you want to rethink your outreach strategy and offer compensation for attendance even if your event is jam packed with exciting things to do. Getting paid in the world of social media is still an uphill battle for all creators and it doesn’t bode well when you don’t have a budget for an event that is literally about women empowering women.
