🏄🏼♀️ Happy Monday, everyone! 🏅 This week, we're excited to share an article from The Red Bulletin featuring Caroline Marks, and her unique journey from rookie to World No. 1 in pro surfing in just under six years. Providing further context, "This is the story of how she got to be so good—a drama defined by familial love, personal obsession, and the redemptive power of joy. The best part is that Caroline Marks found that 1 percent after realizing it was inside her all along." Following her recent 18-month break from professional surfing, Caroline shared, "Now we’re all good. I’m having fun again—that’s the most important thing." 💡 Taking a step back, just like taking a moment, is a skill that requires confidence, self-kindness, and a foundation of self-awareness. The outcome of a break is certainly unknown, but, like training, it can be done intentionally to serve a purpose—in this case, to reconnect with joy. Tune into the upcoming Olympics coverage later this month to see Caroline and Team USA in the surf competition from Teahupo’o, Tahiti. This article contains so many gems and is well worth the 20-minute read. Shoutout to The Red Bulletin & Peter Flax for this awesome highlight (check our 🔗🌲 for more)! Have a great week! --------------------- #limitless #performance #psychology #excellence #surfing #rook #ontheMarks #TheRedBulletin

3 life lessons from surfing I've made a resolution to always say yes when an adventure is offered. So when Jaoa asked me whether I wanted a surf lesson while sitting on Tofo beach in Mozambique, I had to agree. And after catching a number of fantastic waves, I even went for a second lesson the next day! I didn't only learn how to get up on a surfboard, but also gained a few lessons I can apply to life in general, including my career. #1 Firmly entrench the non-negotiables (in surfing it's how to read a wave, where to position yourself on the board, where to have you hands to push up, how to jump up, how to stand in order not to loose your balance, never to jump off in front or behind your board). These set the guardrails within which creativity can happen #2 When the right wave comes (which I equate to an opportunity in one's life or career), look to the shore, don't overthink the detailed rules and GO! Then enjoy the ride #3 If a surfboard smashes into your mouth, check that all your teeth are still in place, rinse out your mouth, and get back on your board Surf's up! #2024Vision #NewBeginnings #ChallengeAccepted #LessonsLearned

As the world's largest surf competition, the U.S. Open of Surfing, makes waves in Huntington Beach this week (just a few miles down the road from our Costa Mesa clinic), we’re celebrating by sharing some essential water safety tips. Here’s what you need to know: Tip #1: Always swim near a lifeguard 🛟 It's safer for you and your family. Tip #2: Check the surf conditions before hitting the water 🌊 Know the waves and the tides (even if you're not surfing)! Tip #3: Use the Right Gear 🛟 Safety first! Wear a life jacket if you're not a strong swimmer. Tip #4: Stingrays 🪸 Stingrays are common along California beaches. Shuffle your feet along the sandy bottom instead of lifting them. This helps alert stingrays of your presence, reducing the risk of stepping on one and getting stung. Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy the surf! 🏖️ If you need us, your local Exer Urgent Care is here to help.

🏄♂️ Inspiring Change: Surfing for the Visually Impaired 🏄♂️ During an interview with Linsay Lusyne from Vision Loss Travel, Marri Breann from Travel Visions Aloha shared her insights on how surfing can be an accessible adventure for everyone. Marri says the ocean can seem intimidating, especially when you’re navigating it without full sight. It’s easy to think that surfing or other water sports might be out of reach. But with the right support, you could experience the thrill of riding a wave, no matter your vision. At a recent event, Marri invited a few of her blind friends to join in on the fun, and what she saw that day was nothing short of amazing. Little changes, like having surf instructors, transfer teams, and water safety teams by your side, can make all the difference. These incredible people ensure that no matter what, you’re safe and supported every step of the way. Whether you want to lie on the board, kneel, or even try standing, it’s all possible. And it doesn’t matter if you don’t get it right the first time—what matters is that you’re out there, feeling the ocean beneath you and knowing that you’re not alone. Let’s break down those barriers together. The ocean is calling, and Marri says it’s time for all of us to answer. #TravelTips #StressFreeTravel #GuideDogTravel #FlyingWithConfidence #TravelSmart #StressManagement #AirportTips #VisuallyImpairedTravel #BlindTraveler #BlindCommunity #AccessibleTravel #Accessibility #Blindness #SightLoss #RetinitisPigmentosa #BlindSupport #DisabilityTravel #InclusiveTravel #VisionImpairment #GuideDogSupport

Surfing Life’s Waves: Simple Steps to Success Life’s like the ocean—full of big waves. Some people see these waves and think, “Oh no, I’m going to get wiped out!” But others grab their surfboards and ride those waves like pros. The secret? They know that every wave is a chance to shine, not just something scary. So, what do we do? First, we learn about ourselves and why we react to waves the way we do. Then, we stay flexible, ready to move with the waves, not against them. And most importantly, we take action. We dive in, paddle hard, and ride those waves to the beach of success. It’s all about turning life’s surprises into our next big adventure. #LifeSurfing #SimpleSuccess

Competition season has just started here in the UK and Europe. A topic of conversation I have been having with several of the athletes "you don't have to be the best surfer to win". It's a bold statement but one I think has some merit. Yes being a very good technical surfer will always help to win heats. of course it will. But there is so much more to surfing than technique. Heat strategy has a huge part to play in whether a heat is won or lost. Wave selection, manoeuvre choice, judging criteria all play a part in a formulating a heat strategy that will help you succeed. Think about Ethan Ewing. For years he has been identified as having a beautiful style and flawless technique, he is one of the best surfers in the world. But think back to 2017, Ethan's first year on tour and best result was equal 13th. Often losing to surfers with "lesser ability" or style/ technique. Now in 2024 he is a multiple CT winner and World title contender. So what has changed? Ethan hasn't changed his style, hasn't changed his technique. But I think what has changed for Ethan is his mindset and approach to surfing heats. He goes in with a solid game plan knowing what type of waves he needs, what type of turns he should be doing, all before his toes even enter the water. That is what I believe makes a successful competitive surfer. As a coach I ensure that all my athletes are working equally on technique but also heat strategy, and all competitive surfing elements to. Here's a highlight real from this years English National Championships. The team smashed it across multiple divisions. Total medal count was 9 medal wining places including 3 Gold medals! If you're looking to compete this year and want to work with a coach, get in touch. I'm certain together we can elevate your skills.

mom | HR specialist & thinking partner - coach 💚 I help moms decide how to live their own, more fulfilling lives with more self-confidence & less mom guilt.
The 1 thing we need to do to enjoy life more fully is…. .. 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠! 🏄 I’ve tried it a few years ago in Tenerife, but yeah… it takes more than 1 lesson to stand up on a board properly after the waves hit and wash you ashore… 😂 𝘚𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭, 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘪𝘵?😌 I understood this way before I took that surfing lesson in Tenerife. And I keep comparing living to surfing ever since. W𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠? 📈 Because once we understand that life is wavy and accept that it’s OK that it is - we start letting go of the expectation for it to be only good. To always be good. Because if it were only good, with no waves, no ups and downs - our lifeline would be flat. 🫥 And that would mean we’re not living. We’re dead! (𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 - 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 😂). I say 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 letting go, because I don’t believe it’s possible to let go of this expectation 😅 At least I’m still learning.. And maybe someday I’ll take some more literal surfing lessons, but for now, I am happy I've learnt to embrace my wavy life more. And knowing that another wave will come and that I’ll do my best to catch and ride it - really contributes to living more fully and thus enjoying life more too. 🏄 Did you notice that actual surfers are pretty chill, laid back yet confident, smart & strong people, and really seem to be enjoying their lives without stressing themselves out too much? 😃. 𝐒𝐨 𝐈 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 to 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐨! At least figuratively! 😅 Think about this post the next time you experience a “down moment”. 📉 And remember that this moment won’t last either! The next wave will come and you’ll have another opportunity to catch it! Have confidence in yourself to do sth differently this time! And see what happens, surfer 🏄 😉 #surfing #life #joy #happiness #waves #embracing #learning #confidence #growth #coaching

At 60, taking up surfing isn't just late, it's insane! Taking up surfing at 60? Sounds nuts, right? Michael John Frampton sits down with Guy Kawasaki to dive into why he started surfing so late in life. 🌊 Guy’s kids led the way. Instead of pushing his passions on them, he jumped into theirs. First hockey at 44, then surfing at 60. 🤯 Guy shares his refreshing parenting philosophy, which is different from the norm. Instead of pushing his interests on his kids, he let their passions guide his hobbies. This approach led him to start surfing and hockey later in life, turning into an adventure filled with challenges and joy. Michael shares his own experience, relating how he began playing football because of his kids' enthusiasm for the game, despite never having liked it before. Are you ready to let your kids' interests inspire your next adventure? 👉Tune in to hear more about how following your kids' passions can lead to unexpected and fulfilling journeys - https://lnkd.in/eruJ8x_N #ParentingGoals #NeverTooLate #SurfingLife #NewBeginnings #FamilyFirst #Inspiration #PodcastEpisode #HockeyAndSurfing #EmbraceChange #PassionDriven
