GREENE KING “PROUD TO PITCH IN” 2024 GRANT PROGRAMME Greene King has relaunched its fantastic sports funding programme for 2024 with a total budget of £360,000! The Proud to Pitch In initiative is provided and administered by Greene King IPA using funding raised through the sale of Greene King ale in local pubs, online and in-store. The Fund's overarching objective is to support and promote grassroots sport within local communities across the UK. It aims to achieve this by enabling people and projects to run sports activities that positively impact on their community. Individuals can nominate a sports club or an organisation to receive a cash grant to continue delivering sports activities. If you have a team or a club that you think would benefit from Proud to Pitch In funding, then you can nominate simply and quickly through the Fund’s nominations page. Nominations are restricted to one per person. Project beneficiaries must be aged 18 or over. Please note that this scheme is available to sports clubs operating in areas local to a participating Greene King site. Details of which Greene King sites are taking part in the Fund can be found under the 'Participating Sites' heading on the Greene King website (scroll down to the foot of the page). Grants of up to £4,000 are available with no matched funding requirement. Grants can be used to cover costs associated with delivering activities in local communities, such as equipment, tools, and other materials. Previous awards have been used for refereeing courses, coaching qualifications, renovating a clubhouse, and equipment or to purchase team kits. Securing school groups to perform the National Anthem in minor league sports is nothing new; but when I was first hired by the Admirals as a sales rep, we only hosted a handful of schools each season. I saw a huge untapped market and an opportunity not only to earn commission, but a way to build fans at the grass-roots level as well. Fast forward a few years and the Admirals' "School Spirit Night" program has turned into a revenue generation and fan creation machine. Last season we hosted a school spirit night at 22 out of 25 Friday and Saturday games. This program is a win-win-win. The school can add a fun family event to their school calendar at no-cost, and in many cases, makes a profit through fundraising. The students gets to hang out with their classmates outside of school, and perform in front of thousands of people, creating a lifelong memory. The team fills seats and creates fans for life. I've found the majority of students that get to perform have never been to a hockey game before, and I've been told by teachers it’s the #1 requested event by returning students every fall. Creating Community Impact, One Bowl at a Time 🏌️♂️ Yesterday, TurnBerry Acai had the privilege of being part of something bigger than ourselves. We joined forces with the Canada Shriners Hospital for their 13th Annual Invitational at Summerlea Golf & Country Club. The goal? To raise $1 million for life-changing medical imaging technology that keeps children safe. When we launched TurnBerry Acai 7 months ago, we didn’t just set out to make the best acai bowls in the city — we set out to make a difference. Our mission quickly evolved into "creating an everlasting community impact that transcends acai. One bowl at a time. One city at a time." 🌍 From university campuses to charity events like this one, being there for our community isn’t just a priority—it’s who we are. And no matter how fast we grow, this will never change. Should've prepped the 150 bowls in advance, but I've always been a crash course type of student haha! Could've been a disaster if dad was not here to carry the boat (insert David Goggins)! PS: I was a bit starstruck when I got to meet Montreal Canadiens' legend Chris Nilan haha!
