My thoughts 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 While remote work offers potential savings by reducing expenses such as lunch meals, transportation fuel, childcare fees, and office attire, its applicability is contingent upon individual circumstances. Factors such as housing expenses, access to affordable healthcare, and internet costs vary depending on location and personal situations. Moreover, remote work may not be feasible or preferable for all individuals, given their job requirements and personal preferences. Therefore, while remote work can be a component of a cost-saving strategy, it is imperative to consider multiple factors before making a decision

Current office views. I cannot understate the value being able to work from home (or in some cases, the local library) offers to our family. The flexibility to seamlessly blend professional responsibilities with personal ones means I’m actually enjoying holiday break, not stressing over alternative childcare arrangements or missing out on quality time with my kiddos. Does it work for every person or every position? Absolutely not. But as more and more companies and organizations roll out their return-to-office policies, my heart genuinely hurts for those who are struggling to choose between what they love and who they love. I couldn’t agree more! And for companies, it opens up an avenue to different markets. There are opportunities to save cost and hire qualified employees. Remote work has given lots of people an opportunity to bring back their time and live a balanced life. Although, I’d have to say that working remotely is case to case basis and doesn’t apply to every industry. As companies go through the growing pains of hybrid work models, there are 2 practices that I am a big advocate for, and should be executed hand in hand: 1️⃣ When leaders are formatting/scheduling office days, ensure that all members of a team (those who work closely with one another to accomplish business goals) work on the same days. Yes, this is going to be a trade against individual scheduling flexibility. 2️⃣ Managers need to ensure that on the days their people are in office, they have some form of team development exercise (informal or formal) planned. Yes, this takes time to plan but is extremely valuable when facilitated intentionally and based on team needs. These 2 actions hit on points 3 and 5 while still rolling up to business needs. What other ideas or best practices do you have for hybrid work?

Isn't this incredibly powerful data. Personally, privacy and knowing when others will be there are not 'surprising' but definitely not as high as where I might have thought. Clearly the cost piece will continue to be a discussion point especially as inflation continues to a topic of discussion and services costs like rental and property keep rising. Will 'travel allowances' start to become more common place across all roles in an organisation v just in traditional field sales roles?
