📅 For what feels like years, I've been periodically informed by colleagues or friends, "Today is National [X] Day." It seems like every day is dedicated to something random, often entertaining, silly, and just peculiar.🙃 I've always wondered who comes up with these national days and if there's a calendar somewhere. 🤔 Well, there isn't just one but several calendars dedicated to them.😉 Recently, a colleague mentioned that yesterday was National Intern Appreciation Day (though I hope interns feel appreciated every day). This sparked my curiosity, leading me to Google and consult AI for answers. 🔍 Here are my findings 🤓 : 💠 There are multiple resources with calendars, but National Today (https://nationaltoday.com/) is perhaps the most comprehensive. 💠These national days are primarily curated by individuals and organizations dedicated to celebrating various themes, cultural traditions, promotional efforts, and interests. 💠Typically, there is an application process to establish a national day, with criteria evaluated by a committee before being added to the National Day Calendar. 💠National Ice Cream Day was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. In case you're wondering, today is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day in the U.S. 🍨 🎉 What’s your favorite national day celebration, or is there a quirky national day you wish existed? Feel free to share your ideal sundae combo or favorite toppings too! Personally, I love the 'kitchen sink' style with a mix of everything.

Is this just a joke, or a clever hack and a fable? ---------- In a retail store, there was a side door with a huge sign with large red letters, warning "Alarm will sound if opened." It was not supposed to be used as a normal exit, but it was a convenient location, so customers often ignored the sign, exited anyways, and sounder the alarm. This was an annoyance to the other customers and staff, but no matter how big the sign was nor how loud the alarm was, people wouldn't stop using the door. Due to a fire code, the door could not be blocked off. One day, a new intern was hired and got annoyed at the repeated alarms. So he put up a new sign on the door saying "Wet paint." No one ever used the door again. ------- Originally, I heard this as a joke. But then I took it seriously, as a story with a moral: Look at old problems in new ways. Even problems without obvious solutions may have non-obvious ones.

I started working at The Cold Message as an intern because of my close friend Alexander Tsvetkov. I was amazed at the level of communication that was expected inside the company and the team culture they have. Here's what I learned: - Whenever you see a client message - react with an emoji within 2 minutes so they know you saw the message. - Respond to everyone as fast as possible - Whenever a client has a concern, go all the way to resolve it. - Always tag the person you are responding to so they see the message. If you cannot solve the problem, tag another team member to get a quick response. What would you add?

In the movie “The Intern,” Robert De Niro is a retired executive who rejoins the workforce as a senior intern. This may sound like a story made just for the movies, but it matches our reality today. With the population aging and not enough young people to fill the available positions in the workforce, leaders are going to have to be creative to fill in the gaps. Here’s how.
