A stunning 25th edition of Seawork has led to record re-bookings for 2025 as exhibitors look to repeat the success of this year’s event. Re-bookings are currently sitting at well over 30%, just a week after Seawork 2024 closed its doors. Audience numbers showed a steady increase on previous editions with 7584 visitors from 45 countries. Improved registration, using the Seawork App and more scanner/printers available to issue badges, streamlined the whole process for all attendees. The top ten countries represented were; United Kingdom The Netherlands Norway Sweden Ireland Germany Denmark Italy France United States 82% of Seawork visitors stated they were involved in, or responsible for, specifying and decision-making in their businesses. Of those, 79% had a senior job title of Director, Manager, Team Lead, Harbour Master, Naval Architect, Surveyor, Engineer, or Superintendent. MOD and Government department meetings were up on last year with exhibitors taking advantage of the exclusive exhibitor one-to-one meetings service. Pre-exhibition bookings for Seawork’s suite of private meeting rooms resulted in all rooms at 100% occupancy despite the increase in facilities available. Looking to the commercial marine industry employees of the future, over 280 students took part in Seawork’s Training & Careers Day programme including a new high of 18 teams taking part in the BMEEA Marine Electrical Apprentices Competition. Twenty-three exhibitors showed their areas of sector expertise within the Seawork Careers Fair, offering industry insights, career advice and apprenticeship opportunities. Multi-day attendance was a noticeable new trend in visitor behaviour with 25% of visitors attending on more than 1 day, illustrating the wide range of exhibits, seminars, networking opportunities and business solutions on offer. More than 100 conferences, launches and demonstrations took place over the 3 days of Seawork. Seawork brings in between £9m - £11m to the Southampton Economy across the 3 days. The wider economy benefits throughout the year, with business contracts and deals equating to tens of millions of pounds of orders as part of the supply chain, that are set up during the Seawork exhibition. How many placements do you think I have made during my 13 years (nearly 14) at Blue Pelican? 500,750,1000? All I know is it's a lot!!! This week I have been doing an interesting project, reconnecting with every placement, HR professional and Line Manager whom I have worked with over my 13 years at Blue Pelican. Here are some of my observations - My Placements stay - I will do the maths later but I'd wager over 30% of my candidates have stayed longer than 5 years with the companies I placed them at. - People remember someone who delivers good service - I can count the number of people's voices who have picked up when I said the line "Hi it's Max from Blue Pelican" Everyone is looking - Not really but there is definitely an unsettled mindset amongst a lot of Marketers. - Feb is a lull month - It seems there are a lot of roles in sign-off to hit the market in March. If I have hired for you, placed you or worked with you from a HR perspective reach out. I'd love to chat and rekindle communications. #recruitment #leadership
