What’s amazing in my business is how many clients choose to hire fast and fire slow. 🤔 The sage business advice we’ve all heard time and time again to “hire slow and fire fast” seems to go in one ear and out of the other. 👂➡️👂 BUT WHY I ASK? When making important hires do we feel compelled to RUSH to hire? There are many reasons clients RUSH the hiring process like Auston Matthews 🏒 to 60 goals. Here are the most common. ❌ The stress of a deadline or the work not getting done has gotten to you and you cave in. ❌ Your gut tells you this candidate is the one. Your gut can be an excellent indicator BUT can overtake your brain and common sense when we are stressed and need to make this urgent hire. ❌ The competition for talent is so hot you are afraid to lose a candidate who is interviewing and your gut says is the one. That’s a double whammy! 🆘 ❌ You’ve recently lost an employee who is resigning in 2 weeks or less and the urgency to hire is now code red. ❌ You are missing the skills to assess specialized talent (AI, Performance Marketing, Data Scientists, Machine Learning developers etc.) and make bad hiring decisions that will cost your productivity and culture. What we know is there is a significant cost to mishiring. You will be far better off to slow down the hiring train 🚂 to make better hiring decisions.
