The points in the list are more right for oneself and I don't think that the boss has to be my best friend. Instead, a boss should encourage people by providing goals and organising work in a way that challenges and encourages an employee, and he should provide planning security with clear decisions. Another factor, of course, would be measuring and controlling in order to value the work. For this I recommend the work of Fredmund Malik or Peter Drucker.
