Did you know that from 6th April 2024, the rules around Flexible Working are changing. Employees will be able to make a statutory flexible working request from day one of their employment. They will be able to make two requests per year (it is currently one) Employers will have two months to respond to that request (it is currently three months) and must consult with the employee. Employees no longer need to explain the impact on the business in their request. Good conversations in a timely way are going to be imperative to ensure requests are handled appropriately. We recommend reviewing your policies and procedures and ensure that all managers with people responsibilities are adequately trained to manage such requests.
