We are excited to collaborate with Mervin P. Antonio, one of the Center's newer affiliated professionals. Merv will collaborate with us around the virtue of generosity and offers practices and initiatives to cultivate a spirit of generosity, emphasizing the power of giving in its many forms to foster growth, collaboration, and positive change. At the heart of his leadership philosophy is the spirit of generosity. As the adage from Simon Sinek resonates, "Leadership is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of those in your charge." Leadership is not just a position of authority, but as an opportunity to give—be it through time, knowledge, ability, or resources. In his role as the Senior Director of Learning and Convening at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, Merv has always recognized the power of giving in its many forms to foster growth, collaboration, and positive change. Founder & CEO of Embracing Equity | 40 under 40 Powerlist | Future of DEI | Executive Leader | Strategist | Change Maker | Connector
Are you choosing to be loyal to a profoundly unjust status quo? Systemic racism doesn't require active hate crimes and vitriol (though both are rampant across the country). Systemic racism simply requires all of us to be complacent. Do nothing. Say nothing against the absurd attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Embracing Equity is a refusal to be silent and accept the status quo. We are choosing a path of healing, community, and collective action for a more democratic and inclusive America. We are choosing to celebrate our differences and lift up the most marginalized identities. We are building a future where we all feel like we belong and are affirmed in our full humanity. Stacey Abrams and Julián Castro urgently call us all to action: "Our nation faces no more important charitable purpose right now than to defend the right to fight racism." It will take our whole community to fight back and recommit to funding racial justice. This is the only way to a future we will be proud to have created for our children. Let's work together to make our vision a reality.
"This work of Embracing Equity is changing lives, and I've lived it firsthand." Read Lisa's incredible leadership story and testimonial. Lisa Berry is the fearless Head of School at Woodland Montessori in Madison, Wisconsin. Watch more about her school here: https://lnkd.in/gbm4i7TM "Over the past four years, my journey with Embracing Equity has been nothing short of transformative – evolving from being the only Black teacher at my school to now its leader." Thank you for your courage and your light, Lisa! We love you and we are proud to walk with you, shoulder-to-shoulder. #EmbracingEquity #GivingTuesday #AntiRacism #Freedom #Community https://lnkd.in/gHM8WQbj

Local Governments Nurture Community Development As a school leader, I prioritized partnering with our local legislators. Why? Because they establish policy and funding for education. When I assumed my leadership role, one of my first acts was to meet with local delegation members and offer our school as a resource. We would host events such as town halls, round tables, and focus groups to assist our local delegation. In today’s video, we’ll discuss how local governments nurture community development through school district collaboration. #EducationalLeader, Kim “When students are led well, they learn well” #Educational #Leadership
