Is the $150m Barbie campaign a marketing dream or enough is enough? I'm yet to make my mind up. Surely the Barbie marketing team deserves a round of applause. A giant 3D simulated model of Barbie walking around Dubai, brands - from Chevrolet to Superga... and Duolingo?! - queuing to turn pink, heavy social media presence, and creative stunts, created a massive buzz. But did the actual movie get lost in the marketing frenzy? Personally after being bombarded by fuchsia-everything, I feel like I need a break, and I ran out of enthusiasm to go watch it. Anyway, we can learn some lessons from this campaign to apply in the B2B world: 1. Partnerships are great tools to maximise exposure 2. Leveraging a variety of channels is key 3. Have "a face" of the campaign, especially if they already have a good profile/following (don't worry, no one is expecting Margot Robbie!) 4.
