While other Eastern European countries were building dull social-realist monuments, Yugoslavian monuments to the antifascist struggle and revolution, made mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, are noteworthy, unusual artworks.

I still don't have the flying car I was promised a few decades ago but at least when the time comes I can rest in peace....on the moon if I like.

Nothing races people's hearts like the idea of a “lost city." The words conjure images of exotic locations, thrilling discoveries, and ever-present danger. So it's not surprising they appear in the titles of countless books, are the name of a popular 2022 action film, and get thrown around with reckless abandon in news headlines.
Reading a novel about a mysterious civilisation or watching Sandra Bullock evade danger in the jungle might be enjoyable entertainment, but it can be misleading and problematic to refer to many ancient cities as "lost."
One of the best examples of this phenomenon is the ancient city of Angkor in present-day
Cambodia.
This documentary is a pictorial essay on the ruins of the ancient city of Angkor. The most extraordinary assembly of sculpture the world has ever known--a whole metropolis of palaces and temples recovered from the jungle.
Six hundred monuments, picture-tapestries in stone, and Angkor-Vat, a mile-square temple of grey sandstone, reveal the glories of the Khmers, ancestors of today's Cambodians.
Directed by Roger Blais, and Morten Parker.
Filmed in 1961
