Does technical documentation need a human touch? Of course yes! Know why? First of all, your docs are read by humans ! 😍 Making docs more fluid than a formal guide brings focus and interest. Also, it makes it easy to read and execute which is the sole purpose of the document. Bringing a human touch to your document creates a connection to the reader and brings a sort of trust that what you are explaining really works. Finally, it makes people actually read the docs instead of going for support systems which have even lost human touch nowadays and tend to wait in a queue by entering a series of numbers to speak with the real human whom we believe S/he will sort out our issues. What we need is a helping hand with a human touch! Is that what our get-started guides are doing now? I would say, some docs are daunting that make even engineers feel complex about the features they have built. Few tips. Present better. Make readers skim your doc rather than reading word by word. Avoid lengthy paragraphs. Break down into simple steps. Use bullet points and highlight important stuff. Work places are too busy for stories. Do not instruct, Guide them. Show empathy. Use an active voice, say directly what you have to, and guide to the features instead of instructing. Show instead of explaining. Sometimes words bring complexity. Explain complex things with simple examples, Use media. Making docs roomy. White space brings a room to consume, think and progress. Add space wherever necessary, avoid lengthy sentences, and use pronouns and acronyms wisely to make your doc short and sensible. Let's bring the experience! We are humans! PC: freepik.com

One of the classical pitfalls in engineering organizations is overlooking the analysis phase and immediately jumping into programming.
