Build businesses together and be the best
Not surprising to see a business focused on production systems, people retention, above-living wages, and internal promotions sustaining and growing in 2024. “I don’t need you to be world class at making a hot dog,” Osanloo said of his managers. “What I need you to be world class at is how to lead people. You need to know how to have a tough conversation with someone who’s not performing. You need to know when to be empathetic and sympathetic versus a little more direct. Do you know how to schedule so that you have all the right people in the right places?” The north star in culinary school was to become a "Chef" when in reality the real winners become Great Leaders.

What applies to restaurants applies to companies: “[…] companies run by award-winning bosses underachieve relative both to their prior performance and to non-garlanded rivals.” Maybe that ‘dull’ leader is better for your organization/department than the shiny bright thing.#leadership #corporateculture
