🎥 Breaking News! 🎬 Exciting progress in ensuring equal access to entertainment for all! Hawaii and Maryland have taken the lead by passing bills requiring open closed-captioning in movie theaters. This is a significant step towards making cinema accessible to everyone, regardless of hearing ability. Now, it's time for all 50 states to follow suit! I urge you to join the movement and spread the word. Contact your senators and delegates to advocate for similar legislation in your state. Together, we can make inclusive movie experiences a reality nationwide. Let's ensure that no one is left out of the magic of the movies! 🌟 #AccessibilityMatters #InclusiveEntertainment #EqualAccess #GovWesMoore

I'm a big fan of the theatrical experience. I want a big screen, crisp picture, rock-your-seat sound. But, I had such a bad experience at a cinema seeing "Deadpool & Wolverine" that I had to share. Showtime was 6:30 pm. At 6:30 pm more than a dozen TV commercials were played followed by NINE movie trailers. The film did not start until close to 7:10 pm. The film watching experience itself was great, but the pre-show experience was so poor that audience members were groaning loudly and several left the theater to complain to management. It's not enough for a movie theater to have quality projectors and speakers or comfy chairs. Ticket prices are higher than ever before and with so many at-home entertainment options, cinemas can't afford to alienate consumers who have actively decided to leave their couches. What was your recent theatrical experience like? Which theaters do you think are doing it right?

Two REMINDERS following Labor Day: first, this is the final week of radio commercials for my NEW AUDIO version of "The Shocking Disconnect" on Sirius XM Channel 131 Family Talk. Better than tuning in to hear the radio spot, go to Amazon Books, Audible, or i-Tunes to order YOUR copy! Second, if you haven't yet gone to see the new feature-length film, "Reagan", I'd urge you to do so. It's an inspiring "must see" during this present chaotic period in America. My latest story looks at a property sector that's niche but has a lot of nostalgia: movie theaters. Cinemas have been through the wringer in recent years between the pandemic, labor strikes and rise of streaming services. But many are still holding on, in part because their uniquely designed real estate makes them difficult to replace. Those big, windowless rooms with stadium seating are great for watching Dune: Part Two, but not so easy for the landlord to turn into a Panera Bread or Ulta Beauty. So, in many cases, the landlord agrees to cut the rent and the movie theater survives. Do you still go to the movies? What's the first and last movies you saw in theaters? (Mine: 101 Dalmatians in 1991 and Barbie last summer.) The Wall Street Journal https://lnkd.in/e6-QkXAm

"In this video, we dig into the REAL economics of ‘unlimited’ movie theater subscriptions by taking the challenge of using an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema pass every day for an entire week. This experiment delves into the economics of movie theater subscription services, evaluating the cost-effectiveness for both the consumer and the theater. Discover the hidden costs behind these passes, the financial impact of concessions, and the fine print that could affect your savings. We'll also explore the broader implications of these subscriptions on movie-going habits post-COVID and the sustainability of theaters." https://lnkd.in/erjM8GB3

Joker: Folie à Deux has been in theaters for less than a month, but Warner Bros. Entertainment has already set a home release date for the box office bomb. Gizmodo.com reports that Joker: Folie à Deux will be available for purchase on digital platforms starting on October 29th, with a DVD / Blu-ray / 4K physical release to follow on December 17th. Though Warner Bros. envisioned Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel replicating the first film’s success, the DC Comics-inspired musical failed to meet expectations both critically and commercially. Between its $200 million production budget and the $100 million Warner Bros. spent marketing the film, its projected box office totals — $65 million domestically and somewhere between $210 million to $215 million globally — made it a huge #loss for the studio. A lot more people are probably going to wind up seeing the film specifically because it’s coming out so soon after its buzzy (and ultimately disappointing) theatrical release, but it feels like Warner Bros. just wants to get it over with before its next wave of expensive comics tentpoles. Unlike the original Joker, which was a gritty psychological drama that resonated with audiences, the sequel's shift towards a musical format did not sit well with fans. Many viewers found the musical elements lacking, failing to fully commit to the genre and resulting in underwhelming performances from both Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. #film #entertainment #blockbuster #bomb #streaming #platform #tech #innovation
