WOW! 3 years have come and gone in the blink of an eye. It feels like yesterday I jumped feet first into a role that I really didn’t know what to expect. Sure, I had been on the other end of recruiting calls and really didn’t love that part of the experience, to be honest… But, the pandemic had shifted things for me and I decided why not entertain a conversation... and I am SO grateful I did. What interested me most was my conversations with Kim, Laura, Beth, and Katelynn (among others). What they had shared they loved about their career in recruiting thus far just happened to align with a few core values important to me: ✨Connecting with people✨ ▫️ This was a large reason why I left public accounting in the first place, and something I had lost in my yoga/fitness/retail sales journey during the pandemic, and missed greatly. ✨Helping others✨ ▫️ Coming from an accounting background, this holds a special place for me in an effort to ‘match’ organizations with finance and accounting talent they can retain for years to come. From a candidate perspective, the ability to bring opportunities to the table they may not have even known about or that align with what is most important to them in their life today. ✨Emphasis on a team environment and focusing on long-term relationships (versus short-term gains)✨ ▫️ You win some, you lose some’ – one of my favorite quotes and it never feels good to ‘lose’, but with my background in teaching yoga it is an easy one to lean on when you focus on the big picture, focus on nurturing relationships, and focus on the idea that what you put out into the world will return itself to you in dividends. ▫️So for today - no job postings, no market insights, nothing to share here other than an appreciation for Truity Partners, my team, and to those I have had the good fortune to cross paths with along the way… THANK YOU for entertaining my cold calls, for laughing along with me in my voicemails, for getting honest on what's important to you, for your trust, and for so much more to come. Client: l don’t know what l want or what l want to talk about. Me: That’s okay, we can sit and work together with the unknown to bring it into the known. Client: l took some photos of me and l really like them. Me: That sounds like confidence. Client: Yes, l feel more confident. We never know what our clients will bring to their sessions. It’s not all about being alongside your client through their pain of the known and unknown. There are also moments of celebrating the wins that lay beyond that pain. This is why l do what l do 😊

Had the immense pleasure of being able to connect with the incredible Christie Schatz, CPO of Sonny's BBQ, this morning and dang did I walk away with a huge smile and lots of hope in my heart for the future of the restaurant business. As a longtime fan of Sonny's, I mean come on that's some gooood BBQ, after talking with her it makes so much sense why my experiences there have always been so positive. Because they don't just talk the talk when it comes to the hourly experience, but truly invest in the people experience through dedicated managerial training, investments in L&D platforms, and trying to foster growth from within by doing something simple: treating their people well. And fun fact, she's been with Sonny's for 23 years - so she knows QUITE a bit about growing a career with a brand. One of my favorite parts of my convo with Christie is when she said this: "People were banging on the doors to come back to work during COVID, and we doubled down on comms with our teams to connect and make sure people were taken care of. And something people often forget is that building community is key at the frontline level. It's so simple too." What a wonderful way to kick off my Tuesday, and thank you for nerding out with me over the hourly experience Christie! In just one year’s time, we had a complete staff turnover. 🤯 It was brutal. 🥵 I learned a lot in that time, and the main thing was this: never compromise your values. 💯 You can find many skilled individuals in the world but that doesn’t make them the right person for your organization. ❌ 📝📥📓Despite knowing the HR rules, employment and labor laws, and best practices for hiring and retention, we did not get our culture right until I got clear about my personal values: innovation, candor, growth, volunteerism, independence. 🚀🙏🏼🤨 From there, I was able to finally articulate how I show my values in my work, and thus, how they show up in our organization if I am leading from my authentic place: 1. We challenge the status quo. 2. We are lovingly candid. 3. We value intentional growth. 4. We give back. 5. We believe in freedom. Our next step is to refine these further as an aligned group who agrees with these basic tenets. We will start by considering the specific examples of how they show up in our day to day lives and specifically identifying the people within our community (team, clients, vendors, referral partners) who demonstrate each of them. Start small. Start with you. 🙋 What do you value? How does that show up in your work? Do you see similarities with the people closest to you in life? 🤔 Does your team share these tenets or are you constantly wondering where their motivation comes from and why they don’t enthusiastically show to win every day? 🙃
