Modern Ag. Change Manager | Regenerative Agricultural Development at Control Union | Supply Chain Strategist & Thought Leader | Pre-Farm Gate Instigator & Post-Farm Gate Antagonizer
Question: When did being “overqualified” become a scarlet letter in hiring? What impact does being 'overqualified' have on hiring decisions? My partner volunteers at a hospital, and she genuinely enjoys the work. It helps her stay grounded while she completes medical school and keeps her connected to the community she hopes to serve after graduation. Recently, she was invited to interview for a role at the hospital after being referred by the volunteer coordinator. During the interview, the panel was surprised to learn about her extensive qualifications—multiple master’s degrees, medical school achievements, experience as a doula with over 500 births, and her undergraduate education at Colorado College. They cited these qualifications as reasons for being “too overqualified” for the position. This was surprising, especially since my partner saw herself as highly capable and enthusiastic about the role. She did not demand a salary that was commensurate of her background, she simply wanted to be apart of something bigger and more impactful. Sidenote: I want to clarify that I’m not criticizing the hospital; it’s a fantastic organization, and I admire their work! My intention is to understand the reasoning behind this trend, as I’m eager to learn and make the most of the time I have left on this planet. When did being “overqualified” become a negative factor in hiring? This trend doesn’t make sense to me, and it’s not the first time I’ve encountered such a comment. #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #Overqualified #HiringTrends #ResumeTips #EmploymentIssues #JobInterviews #CareerDevelopment #WorkplaceCulture #ProfessionalGrowth #MedicalSchool #VolunteerWork #JobMarket #HiringChallenges #CareerPath #JobQualifications #CareerOpportunities #WorkplaceTrends #EmploymentAdvice #JobHunting #CareerSuccess

Is Leaving My Comfortable Government Job for Nursing Insane? Answers: https://lnkd.in/dMtkcS3M #CareerChange #Fulfillment #NursingJourney #WorkLifeBalance Hey everyone! 🌟 I wanted to get your thoughts on something that's been weighing on my mind. I'm currently a government marketing and communications manager, making nearly $100k a year. Sounds great, right? Well, here's the catch: I only work about 2-3 hours each day, and while I’m fully remote, I miss those face-to-face interactions that really energize me as an extrovert. I initially dove into this field out of a passion for journalism and helping people, but I feel like my current job is so far removed from that purpose. Here are a few pain points I’m wrestling with: Lack of Interaction: Working remotely is convenient but can feel isolating over time. I thrive on social interaction, and this role just isn’t providing that. Unfulfilling Work: It’s tough to feel motivated when no one seems to notice or care about what you do. I want my work to have a real impact! Desire for Change: I’m considering a complete shift to become a registered nurse. The idea of hands-on patient care excites me, and it feels lik...
