Last week LEAD and the Lake 100 collaborated to host an “Economic Development Playbook” Luncheon which brought together 150+ community stakeholders to hear from economic development expert Gray Swoope (President/CEO VisionFirst Advisors & former FL Secretary of Commerce) as well as a panel discussion on economic growth in Lake County that included Griff Salmon (VisionFirst) and Dr. Richard Levey (Levey Consulting). Many thanks to our luncheon sponsor Bella Collina and to speaker sponsor Optimus Energy! Key Insights: • Growth vs. Development: Grey Swoope specified refined & intentional growth, as opposed to growth simply for growth’s sake. • Community Choice: Richard Levey stressed each city/municipality’s role in choosing how they wish to grow. • Industry Selection: Griff Salmon advised targeting industries suitable for the local area and potential investment in such. • Urgency for Action: Grey Swoope declared now is the time for Lake County's advancement. • Team Effort & Patience: Acknowledgment that economic development requires collaboration and time. • Take away: Commitment to shaping Lake County's growth with strategic, community-aligned development. #EconomicGrowth #LakeCounty #CommunityDevelopment #SustainableGrowth #Lake100 #ThankYou #BellaCollina #OptimusEnergy #VisionFirstAdvisors #LeveyConsulting #leadinglake Optimus Energy Solutions Bella Collina Lake County of Florida View more photos here: https://lnkd.in/dxdR8xM8

It puts a smile on our face when we hear from influential voices outside of the Klamath Basin that validate what we've always known - Klamath is a great place to entrepreneur! And that's not just a tagline. Damon put it in perspective in a couple different ways: * Klamath's MARGINAL GAINS in economic and demographic indicators position the Klamath Basin very competitively compared to other areas of the state, and more than offset the state and federal burden of operating a business here * We offer the RURAL ADVANTAGES that entrepreneurs are looking for: eager and competent workforce; easy access to utilities, including broadband; affordable land, labor, and local tax structure; and ecosystem services to support entrepreneurs and small businesses regardless of what stage they are in * And, last but not least, Klamath offers that elusive SECOND PAYCHECK: unmatched natural beauty with a quality of life that makes it easy to live and work here Thanks Klamath County Economic Development Association for hosthing this summit. It's a great way to let the world know why it's just better here!
Business Oregon Economist Damon Runberg presented at the Klamath County Economic Summit this week, where Business Oregon was an event sponsor. This event was hosted by the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce. Damon dug into Klamath County’s regional economy, taking a special look at employment trends, workforce characteristics, and industry specialization. He then compared these trends to the rest of Oregon’s rural counties to see how typical and/or exceptional Klamath County is relative to its peers around the state. Klamath County’s growth over the past 4 years has outpaced most rural communities and even many metropolitan areas due to the region’s high quality of life, the remote work boom, and hard work by local community leaders to develop the business and workforce climate.

A five-member team from Charlton County recently attended the Valdosta State University Center for South Georgia Regional Impact Rural Development Institute, a three-day summit designed to help communities across Georgia develop an action plan for rural prosperity. From Melodey Martindale, executive director of the Charlton County Okefenokee Chamber of Commerce: “Our RDI team is most excited about the prospect of revitalizing our downtown area. We believe that breathing new life into this key part of our community will create momentum for broader improvements throughout Charlton County. This initiative excites us because it has the potential to transform our community, creating more jobs, boosting local businesses, and providing new recreation opportunities. To make this vision a reality, we will need a combination of strategic planning, community engagement, and securing funding through grants and partnerships. With the enthusiasm and dedication of our team, we are confident that we can achieve this goal and pave the way for a brighter future for Charlton County.” From Scott Berta, industrial development manager for Electric Cities of Georgia and Charlton County RDI mentor: "The ripple effects of RDI's influence extend beyond immediate project outcomes. By fostering a network of passionate and capable leaders, RDI creates a supportive ecosystem where ideas can flourish, partnerships can form, and resources can be mobilized. This collaborative spirit is essential for long-term success and resilience in rural development efforts." https://bit.ly/3XRjuvp #VState #BlazerNation 🔥

Our Directors Elaine Warwicker and Hayley Parker attended the event between the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire, and the University of Gloucestershire where David Owen shared the Gloucestershire economic growth strategy. It was great to understand the growth plans for the county for the next 25 years, with the 3 key priorities underpinning the achievement of the vision highlighted as: - Business innovation and growth - Continuing to build skills and employment - Transitioning to being carbon neutral Exciting plans ahead! And with big ambition comes the need to have not only a clear vision, but clear objectives to achieve it, as highlighted by Ruth Dooley who was a great chair for the event. This coupled with David’s “how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time” comment when explaining the ambition for the county and taking it forward, along with the importance of alignment and collaboration so that all stakeholders achieve together, really resonated with us as it’s these key areas that underpin all of our work with clients. #ImprovingPerformanceTogether #GrowthStrategy #GloucestershireEconomicGrowthStrategy

🌟 Thriving Grand Rapids: Insights from the Policy Conference 🌟 I had the privilege of attending the Grand Rapids Policy Conference, a dynamic gathering of local and regional thought leaders. Here are my key takeaways: Resilience and Prosperity: The conference celebrated Grand Rapids’ resilience and discussed how to tackle future challenges. We explored ways to ensure a prosperous West Michigan for all. Public-Private Partnerships: Transformative projects lie ahead! The emphasis on public-private partnerships was inspiring. Collaborations can drive innovation, infrastructure, and economic growth. Civil Discourse: Amid heated political debates, the conference highlighted the power of civil discourse. Instead of asking “why,” consider asking “what” and “how.” It fosters understanding and bridges gaps. Let’s keep the conversation going! What’s your biggest takeaway from the conference? 🤝🔍🚀 #GrandRapids #PolicyConference #CommunityProsperity
