In the 2019 film "The King," directed by David Michôd, one of the most poignant moments occurs when King Henry V, played by Timothée Chalamet, delivers a rousing speech to his troops before the Battle of Agincourt. The speech, encapsulated in the phrase "make it England," serves as a crucial narrative and thematic turning point in the film. This scene draws heavily on the themes of unity, identity, and leadership. Unity and Identity: The phrase "make it England" is a rallying cry that transcends personal and regional loyalties, urging the soldiers to unite under a common identity. This echoes broader themes of nationalism and collective identity that are still relevant today. Leadership and Responsibility: Henry's speech marks a significant evolution in his character, from a carefree prince to a responsible king. It highlights the burdens of leadership and the necessity of inspiring and uniting one's followers, a timeless theme in both historical and contemporary contexts. Conflict and Sacrifice: The speech underscores the imminent sacrifice and the brutal reality of war. By invoking the name of England, Henry appeals to a sense of duty and higher purpose, suggesting that the sacrifices made on the battlefield are for the greater good of the nation. #BetweenFilm #TheoFilm #FilmAnalysis #SpiritualityInFilm #CinematicTheology #ReligiousCinema #Theopoetics #FilmAndSpirituality #SelfReflection #FilmStudies #JungianPsychology #OntologicalAnalysis #CulturalCritique #SelfDiscovery #Dialogue #Listening

During the age of silent films, monsters tended to be humanoid, or at least "of man". Some of these monsters included the Monster from Frankenstein, Dracula, the Golem, werewolves, zombies, and mummies. This is because of the special FX available during the time period. It was far easier to create human-based monsters during this time instead of non-human monsters. The first giant monster film to come to Talkies was "King Kong", which revolutionized the monster genre. One can speculate that, apart from the physical limitations, monsters were humanoid during this time due to what was happening in the world. The world had seen the Great War and lost so many people. It reminded humanity how truly brutal humanity can be, and so to create monsters of humans only makes sense. By the time World War 2 came about, the world had moved onto massive, horrible monsters that could destroy cities. Humanoid monsters stayed around, but took a backseat. In fact, some of the monsters fell onto comedy, such as Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) #abbottandcostello #frankenstein #dracula #kingkong #thegolem #werewolf #zombie #mummy #horror #horrorpodcast #audiodrama #audiodramapodcast #rrt #monstersofmay #monsters #monster #publicdomain #artwork #frankensteinsmonster
