[PROJECT GREEN-TEX]   🌍 The Municipality of Postojna participates in the Green-Tex project, an initiative aimed at pioneering innovative approaches within the sustainable textile and clothing sector across the Danube region. The primary objective of this project is to increase the resilience and competitiveness of the sector within partner regions by transitioning from traditional textile practices to environmentally sound methodologies rooted in circular economy principles. 🌿   📈 Collaborating closely with its partners, the Municipality of Postojna will develop and test new green solutions along the entire fashion value. From refining production processes to optimizing end-product utilization and textile waste collection, the project will leverage digitalization to enhance efficiency. The project also aims to raise awareness on textile waste management, recycling, and the imperative of reusing textiles. [Case of success] Barcelona, Leader in Maritime Logistics and a Sustainability Benchmark     The Port de Barcelona (Spain) shines as a success story in the global port industry, with its Monzon Intermodal Terminal (TIM) standing out as a model of sustainability and diversification. This visionary strategy has positioned it as a benchmark in the port sector.     In the maritime world, innovation and diversification are key, and the Port of Barcelona has understood this perfectly. By creating inland terminals connected by rail, it has expanded its reach to customers within the Iberian Peninsula and beyond. This has enhanced supply chain management and proved crucial in critical moments, such as the COVID-19 lockdown.     TIM, established in 2011, is an outstanding example of this vision. The diversity of its services has grown to cater to a wide range of customers, from chemical shipments to agricultural products. Its commitment to rail transport, sustainability, and diversification has been a recipe for success.     The incorporation of agroTIM in 2019 has enabled the development of logistical solutions for products like cereals and corn. Now, soy from Brazil and Argentina joins this list. TIM also stands out as the only terminal in the Iberian Peninsula handling refrigerated, bulk, and dry containers.     The termoTIM Terminal, which started in 2020, sends meat products to the Asian market daily, a remarkable logistical feat. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝟯𝟲𝟬 Our co-founders Moritz & Anne represented us at one of the most important networking events in the European biochar industry: Bio360 fair (Nantes, France) last week. After many of our fellow biochar experts shared their insights we would like to do the same. What stuck with us might also be exciting for you: 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 👥 The strongest impression was: the fair was quite empty, probably due to a mix of a farmers' strike in France, a rail strike in Germany and problems at Nantes airport. In turn, the biochar stage audience was always sitting tightly packed which leads to conclusion that there is many interest also besides agricultural customers. 🏭 Supplier market: producers struggle to sell their biochar We assume, the first reason is unsuitable properties of biochar for current relevant biochar applications (⭐ for which we offer support ⭐). Secondly, we assume the political set of rules is behind the actual market needs: hence, there is an urgent need for open-technology state in the construction industry and EU subsidies for CDR. 🌍 Many global project developers: like 2023, there was an international audience, especially from outside Europe (US, Canada & more). 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗼𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 💡Rethink the country pavilions: we think a thematic grouping is much clearer for trade fair visitors. It would be fantastic next year to have a technology provider pavilion, a construction materials pavilion and an accompanying services pavilion. 🏗️ Entering the construction industry: EPD is a relevant topic for biochar-based building products, which is why the industry should think about an overal sector rulebook, e.g., by establishing Product Category Rules (PCR) (👉🏻Join EBI working group on sink credits and standards) 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 🤝 It was great to meet in persona in contrast to daily work, eating dinner together and get to know the personalities behind the professional people. We look forward to meeting the industry again in Nantes in 2025.

The event commenced with inspiring opening remarks from Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys of The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, followed by insightful contributions from Mr. Mats Gerlam, Investment Promotion Consultant at BOI. . Following this, Mr. Thumrong Ampornratana, Bio and Medical Industries, Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand delivered an interesting presentation on the BCG Model, providing deep insights into Thailand's sustainable development initiatives, especially the country's strategic vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero GHG emissions by 2065. Meanwhile, with a clear vision, the BOI is positioned to make a transformative impact by driving the Thai economy into the 'New Economy,' marked by innovative, competitive, and inclusive growth. . Dr. Savanit Boonyasuway, BCG Model Committee, The Federation of Thai Industries, highlighted Thailand's ambitious goal to become a premier global industrial hub and lead the way in sustainability for ASEAN, especially across vital sectors such as Food and Agriculture, Medical and Wellness, Bioenergy, Biomaterials and Biochemicals, and Tourism and the Circular Economy. There are vast Thai and Nordic collaboration opportunities. . Before the engaging discussion, the webinar included a valuable presentation by Mr. Kalle Riihinen, Chief Operating Officer of the Nordic Bio product group, offering profound insights into its evolution, challenges, and transforming low-value agricultural residues into high-impact and high-value solutions. Mr. Dmytro Triaskin, MD of Peikko Southeast Asia, followed with an insightful presentation on innovative construction methodologies for the energy sector and emphasised how these approaches make the building industry faster, safer, and more sustainable. . The Bio-Circular-Green Economy initiative exemplifies a forward-thinking collaboration between Thailand and the Nordics.
