👀 Are you seeing this too? I just posted a comment in my favorite learning community, Cognota's LearnOps Community in response to a job description for a Global Learning and Development Specialist that, while extremely well-done and detailed, was far beyond the capabilities of one individual to fill. Here was my response... Wow Sarah, that's some job description. I've found that learning advisory roles like this are better to be accomplished by teams rather than an individual. There are companies out there like mine and others who offer advisory teams made up of all the components in your job description. For example, the global enterprise learning projects my company works with are assigned a 3-person advisory team that includes what we call an LMS Doctor who helps bring together the team and oversee everything; an LMS Strategist who works on establishing global standards of use for the overall client operations; and an LMS Ops Specialist who makes sure those global standards are aligned throughout the organization. Oh, and we also bring in Cognota as our LearnOps platform, so we don't have to fuss with the client's internal Slack or Teams, or Project or Planner. As 'advisors', our people guide and enable, advise and assist; they do not direct people or do things, because it is a best principle not to outsource your learning leadership or operations. Outsourcing your advice makes sense because what you are looking for is someone from outside to share with you what you should be doing based on what they are seeing in the broader industry. Anyway, I've come across these job descriptions a lot lately and I know of no one person that can fill them; it takes a team.

Training Specialist | Instructional Designer | Talent Developer | Visual Communicator | DEI Advocate
I've spent the last few months working to transition into a new learning management system (LMS) platform and now we're just a few weeks away from relaunching Keelvarsity. After initial feedback, I could not be more thrilled to get our customers into the new platform. For everyone from customers and partners coming to Keelvarsity to earn certifications and learn about the latest features, to the admins pulling reports, this transition drives us toward working smarter and offering a better overall learner experience. As an Instructional Designer in a Learning and Development team, you don't often get to know the ins and outs of using an LMS well. Usually there is an LMS Administrator around making sure that you've crossed all your t's and dotted all of your i's when interacting with the LMS. At Keelvar being a training team of one, I not only own the design and development of training, but also all things related to Keelvarsity, our LMS. While I was already fairly well versed in LMS administration, this transition has been a lesson in the work it takes to create and maintain a successful LMS. Every single minute has been worth it. I'm excited about what's possible for the future of Keelvarsity and to be able to offer the best learning experience. While I may be a training team of one, this transition and the experience we're offering to customers, partners, and staff is made possible by loads of collaboration across Keelvar. Folks from Marketing and Design, Security, Professional Services, Customer Success, and more have all dug in to help make sure we are offering a top tier training experience to procurement professionals.

Do you have experience with Learning Management Systems? As we fully transition into 2024, one of my professional goals is to implement an LMS to ease onboarding and continuing education for my staff. I've used Blackboard and Litmos but am curious about recommendations, tips, pros and cons for all platforms. My primary aim is to transition our company handbook into something more dynamic and engaging, while still being able to include the "nuts and bolts" items that are mandatory year to year. Appreciative of any feedback! #motivationmonday #learningmanagementsystem #professionaldevelopment
