As a welding engineer in today's dynamic industrial landscape, staying competitive requires a diverse skill set that goes beyond traditional welding techniques. To excel in this field, one must continuously hone a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills. First and foremost, proficiency in various welding processes, such as TIG, MIG, and arc welding, is essential. Keeping up with the latest advancements in welding technology and techniques is crucial to deliver high-quality results efficiently. Additionally, a deep understanding of metallurgy and material science is vital for selecting the right materials and ensuring structural integrity in welding projects. Moreover, welding engineers must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the welding process. The ability to interpret blueprints, identify defects, and implement corrective measures is key to ensuring the quality and safety of welded structures. In today's collaborative work environment, effective communication and teamwork skills are equally important for welding engineers. Building strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers fosters a productive work environment and ensures seamless project execution. By continuously developing these key skills - technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills - welding engineers can not only stay competitive but also thrive in an ever-evolving industry landscape. #WeldingEngineer #SkillsForSuccess #IndustryInsights

12 year+ Experienced AICIP/ AS1796 and 2214/IWS/ISO9001 auditor/NACE1 and 2/trainer assessor/ QAQC MGMT/ welding and fabrication and QA/QC consulting.
Welding supervisors, inspectors and welding engineers. I'm interested in your thoughts on Lincoln Hyperfill or similar dual wire welding. I've seen really good PQRs with decent results. But possibly abnormally high in the tensiles, and broken in the HAZ. I haven't seen one with impacts yet though (jury is out). The super high travel speeds make me wonder about repeatability as well. Which high depositon processes can bring out, with defects like LOF. Also in my limited experience I've seen hyperfill Macros with a definite pattern to centreline (think solidification). I understand all the typical "it's fast" commentaries. But time can be saved smarter in fabrication and management times. Interested in your thoughts or experiences.

Masenn Lewis is the lead welder here at James Engineering. During an exclusive interview with him, he reveals some career-defining advice for all future welders! What makes James Engineering stand out? “I’ve worked for other companies where you don’t have access to be able to talk to engineers, to figure out what problems are, and I think that is a pretty strong suit of this company—that we’re able to do that.” What advice would you offer to people who are just getting into welding? “Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty at all. Welding is an industry where you have to work hard. There’s no reason for you to be watching other people work and always have an open mind when welding. There’s a thousand ways to do it. One time it might work one way, but the next time it might not work. So you need to be able to be pretty open minded to be able to work on stuff.”
