When feds bust dogfighters, they're charged with "conspiracy." The ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States and Best Friends Animal Society, which is a front for dogfighters, are all part of that conspiracy. Don't believe that? Here's just one example: National Dog Fighting Awareness Day is Monday, April 8. Last week, police/feds took 100+ pitbulls from eight New Jersey dogfighters, 78 pitbulls from Alabama dogfighter Carlton Adams and 73 pitbulls from California dogfighter Jorge Ayala's property. New Jersey dogfighter Bruce Low Jr. and his family/friends had been investigated since "late 2021," per 6abc-dot-com; Alabama dogfighter Carlton Adams had been investigated since September 2023, per AL-dot-com; and California dogfighter Jorge Ayala, whose "whereabouts are unknown," per NBC Bay Area, had been investigated since "early March." If you think it's a coincidence that feds decided to swoop in and rescue all these "poor, poor dogs" a few days before National Dog Fighting Awareness Day, please do not vote in the upcoming presidential election. It’s so important for us all to start talking about this — the sheltering system as we see it now cannot continue and is unsustainable, requiring us all to ask some questions and re-think what’s feasible. We have a system that is chronically misunderstood, unsupported, underfunded, and under-resourced with pressures that only increase and no end in sight on need. We need community and government support as we work through huge questions like this and the potential solutions of the future. Many of us consider our pets a part of our family. An estate plan can help ensure that your animal is taken care of, even when you are no longer here. Trusts are the only way to do this, as pets can not be beneficiaries under a will. 🤬🤬🤬 I honestly cannot say what I want to say about the people who threw these rabbits out of a car. One had to be put to sleep because of the injuries, others ran away and will likely die.😭 BEST PRACTICE ON REHOMING ANIMALS: Companion animals are for life, not just for lockdowns, or until you get bored, or for a Christmas present, or to be bred for money and then abandoned when they don't sell, or because irresponsible "guardians" refuse to spay or neuter their companion animals. Obviously it should go without saying that giving away your animal should be a last resort and animals should be a lifetime commitment. Not just until you get bored of them. But I understand that extreme circumstances can mean people who really do love their animals end up in situations where they need to rehome them. If they can't find help getting pet food from food banks and charities or pay for medical treatment, rehoming is the better option. If you can't find a responsible family member or close friend who can adopt them, contact a rescue and see if they can help find them a home and hold on to them for as long as you can before handing them to the rescue. The absolute worst case scenario should be a no kill shelter, but remember, what passes for "no kill" does not mean no kill. Never take them to a kill shelter. And never abandon them. They can get run over, starve, get mange, infections, before they finally get picked up as a stray in a terrible condition having suffered and making their chances of adoption even worse and adding costs to shelters for their medical care. That's if they get picked up at all. Some cats and dogs spend years on the streets and die on the streets. When there are rescues and shelters, why would you abandon them? Please DO NOT give your animal away for FREE to strangers. Do your due diligence. Contact a shelter who'll be able to advise on what to do. Dog fighters don't tell you what they do, they know exactly how to act like they are decent human beings. Would you give away your child to a perfect stranger? You're risking your companion animal like this and putting them in a lot of danger. Dog fighters use free cats, dogs, rabbits etc as bait, to "blood" the dogs they abuse and train for fighting. If you wouldn't harm your dog, then don't give them away to someone who is a stranger and might. However nice they may seem, even if they're female, even if they bring along a kid or "seem" really nice. Dog fighters have girlfriends and kids too.
