I just received my first certificate on Credly, from the Linux Foundation, for completing the course "Introduction to Nephio (LFS179)"! I didn't like the fact that it uses "Cloud Native Functions", rather than the proper, "Containerised Network Functions" definition for CNFs. Other than that, it is very insightful!

Validated designs are essential for the business departments with traditional AI and genAI. Usually, internal IT or external System Integrators are not available or need too much time to define and set up a standard architecture for AI workloads at the Edge, esp. for manufacturing use cases in the OT world. It needs to be - scalable & repeatable, - flexible, - remotely manageable, - be based on standards, - secure. I was asked yesterday, during a discussion about Scale Computing being an alternative to VMware, the following "How is this any different from just buying ESXI? Isn't this just changing who you're buying from?". My answer is (and was) this: "Well, we have taken great pains to make sure that you can exit easily of you like. We have maintained the exportability of the qcow2 format for all workloads, leveraged bunches of opensource to avoid lock in, etc. Our belief is that our value lies in making the tools in the back end automated and incredibly easy such that you don't really need to think about infrastructure. So, no, not just trading one form of lock in for another. You can literally take any Scale VM, export the qcow2 and start it up on any linux/KVM machine without any extra steps. Likewise, you can drag and drop a VMDK/vhd into our UI and we will automatically import and convert it so that it can start on us.

Having trouble running Ubuntu desktop as a VM on #azure? Don't worry, you're not alone. I was struggling a lot with this issue for some period of time. While Ubuntu desktop is not currently on the image list, there is a workaround: simply use Ubuntu server and ssh into it then install ubuntu-desktop and xrdp package which will allow you to have Ubuntu GUI experience and you will be able to natively connect to it with RDP client. Don't forget to enable 3389 port (PS: make it accessible only from your IP) on your NSG 😎.
