I know there were many layoffs this week, including some dear former co-workers at G5. I'm a pretty good editor with good copy skills, so if you need help with polishing your resume, an honest read-through of a cover letter, or see anyone in my network you'd like to be connected to, just DM me, happy to help out!

Layoffs are on the uptick as we end the year. And will continue through the first quarter of next year. So here's hint: If, out of the blue, your company asks you to... - write down your skills on a spreadsheet - submit your resume so they can see what your experience is - rate yourself on your competencies - define what your average day looks like - list the current projects you're focused on - speak with an HR person to discuss your workload/career goals ...they are evaluating if your services/skills are needed any longer. Update your resume.

Here are 2️⃣ things you need to do now: ☝🏽 Make sure you can access your resume from your own device! Don't rely on the company's computer to be the only place you store your resume. Reminder: If you’re interviewing at a company and it’s looking good, Keep looking elsewhere. Doesn't matter if you land a final interview. Or if everyone says how great you are. I see too many people get attached to one company. Remember, they're courting other people they also invited to a final interview. If companies are going to do this you should too. You can continue to chase that opportunity. But don't stop generating additional opportunities for yourself. Until you sign an offer letter ‘don’t take your foot off the gas.’ -- PS - even if you sign an offer letter and start your new job, keep the door open with other companies you were talking to. With layoffs still happening and (in rare cases) rescinded offers, you never know what could happen.

If you know layoffs are coming, should you: 1.Ride it out? 2. Resign? Answer1: That's your decision. Answer2: FOCUS on what YOU control. Don't give into analysis paralysis (why? when? it's not fair! who's first to go?) of things that you DON'T control. What YOU control: 1. Resume: Is updated at all times? Is it hot? Does it sell your brand? 2. Interviewing readiness: Are you prepared to sell your brand effectively? 3. Job hunt strategies: Are you involved with People? Or just dumping resumes online? Are you active in professional organizations? Have you let people who know you know that you're looking? 4. Your emotions: Believe in and value you over any job at firms you don't own. They're not focused on you, you focus on you. Need Career Coaching? Or a Standout Resume? Contact Me #beyourbestbrand #beyourbestcareerarchitect #resumes
