The should be a method to madness If an MLA wants (demands and approaches High Court) security with almost one thousand men (Police), then what would be the size of the Police Force for providing such security to all MPs, MLAs and MLCs and the costs associated with such arrangements? Also, it is a puzzle for anyone to answer why should tax-payers money be spent on such arrangements.

The Modern Slavery Act needs to be amended to give a clear definition of criminal exploitation "and enable police to really take the fight to exploiters and bring them to justice." Louise Gleich 📚 Read more in our joint report with Justice and Care👇 https://lnkd.in/eZ9ppCfJ

Why don’t we say we police by means of co operation rather than by consent ? (They are different). We police by legislation. (The only consent that is needed is to sign off the legalisation.) Whereas to police we need cooperation from the public to be effective. Is much of the criticism of the police due to a false ideology ? I am currently examining the first standing orders from Kent County Constabulary comparing them with the first methods of instruction from the Met. Very enlightening ! #BacktoBasics #police

With the proliferation of mobile phone and CCTV footage capturing physical and sometimes violent confrontations between officers and suspects, former Police Scotland Superintendent Martin Gallagher PhD fears that, unless the service and the wider criminal justice system can underline the importance of public co-operation with the police – and explain that in certain circumstances such confrontations are necessary and inevitable – the British model of policing by consent could soon disappear. ❝A consequence of our approach is a far higher threshold for the presentation of firearms to ensure compliance from suspects. This certainly results in far fewer police related shootings, but it does put officers at greater physical risk than their counterparts overseas.❞ ❝As many commentators point out, a copper’s mouth and wits should be their primary weapon; I agree. But it is sheer fantasy to think officers can talk round every drugged and drunken lout intent on destruction and harm to others.❞ ❝The young men saw the police as wholly alien to their community, an imposition from a state they had no apparent connection with whatsoever and impacted not on their daily lives. It was a shocking indictment of the social disconnections that exist in modern Britain.❞ ❝A serious, considered review of how we want to police this country is required, because at this rate the notion of policing by consent is dying off. If this level of public disquiet continues to grow the British model will wither to meaninglessness.❞ https://lnkd.in/e7ifjw2B #lawenforcement #policing #police

Rechtsanwältin (Strafrecht, Völkerstrafrecht, Auslieferung/Rechtshilfe, internationales Recht, Menschenrechte)
A crucial emphasis in the ICC Prosecutor's statement, reaching beyond this specific conflict and reminding us: The value of international justice systems stems from universal application and equality before the law. "[...] As reflected in the decision of the Chamber, one of the core objectives of international humanitarian law is the protection of civilians in armed conflicts. All those engaged in such conflicts must follow the baseline rules of conduct reflected in international humanitarian law. This law provides protection to all, and gives equal value to all lives. This is the starting point, the foundational principle that guides our work at the International Criminal Court. As I have repeatedly emphasised, no individual, anywhere in the world, should feel they can act with impunity. And no person, anywhere in the world, should feel they are deserving of less protection than others. [...]"
