Both wise and true words...

It's well known that a lot of wealthy elites support the Left. Some of them might do it out of sincere empathy. But the main reason is that they are smart enough to understand that without certain redistribution in favor of lowest classes the system is unsustainable. That's why they want to lead this redistribution into desired direction, they don't want Socialist Revolution like it happened in Russia or Cuba. They want to ensure that their children preserve their elite status and redistribution happens primarily at the cost of middle class, not them. That's why they support various forms of income tax. Working middle class is normally paying 10-20 percent of their entire net worth annually because their annual income is commensurate with their wealth. (Likely even more if you take into account student debt, mortgage and all the other debts). On the other hand, really wealthy people rarely pay more than 1% of their net worth annually, only if they have poor accountant.

An immediate #ceasefire is the first and most vital step to ending the carnage in #Gaza and the wider #MiddleEast. As I mentioned to LBC and Andrew Peach, that will allow for a much-needed #HumanitarianAid surge, release of #hostages and concrete steps towards ending the horrors.
