This week I had the pleasure of speaking at the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment Innovation Summit. I shared my global perspective as to how industry leaders and regulators are making bigger strides toward incorporating end-to-end material traceability, especially to create visibility and risk mitigation in critical mineral supply chains. Although it may still look like a patchwork, harmonization is happening, and most importantly, deeper understanding is happening that if we want to change the status quo, if we want a clean energy transition with secure, responsible supply chains, we undoubtedly need material traceability from provenance to product.    Suppliers Partnership is truly a unique group. Experts and practitioners in responsibility and sustainability along the entire value chain. The membership is intrinsically motivated not only for change but also for collaboration and that’s refreshing and inspiring. I took away a lot from listening to these experts and here are a few of the themes I heard: ✅ There’s more understanding than ever before as to what needs to be done and how progress is created. ✅ Global regulations are both onerous and helpful in forging collaboration and change.  ✅ The patchwork of regulations and compliance requirements globally can be quickly swamping if systems of efficiency are not built to harmonize efforts and find synergies.  ✅ Quality data is key to informing teams where to focus their efforts and drive results.  ✅ And companies are more and more moving to having visibility of inherited activity at the product level.    Thank you SP team for having me. Some say that net zero 2050 isn’t enough. Let’s discuss the critical role of accelerating #digitalization drive decarbonisation beyond net zero. For Australia net zero is about addressing the 1% of global emissions the nation is responsible for. But perhaps ☝️digitalization could get us there faster and even help us go beyond that 1% when we innovate and solve global challenges that reduce waste, optimize resource consumption and solve major challenges that we didn’t even realize were part of the #netzero equation. 🤔
