Sound on 🔊 Discover the secrets…
This is also my first time on camera so I’m a little shy!
When we took on this Grade II Listed Apartment in Pimlico London it had not been touched since the 70s. This 2 bed 90m2 flat was badly planned and uncomfortable. We undertook a full and extensive renovation, obtaining listed building consent and reworking all of the interiors to create this incredible series of spaces. Storage was at a premium and we managed to fit in loads, despite it appearing minimal! Another tricky luxury was the new air conditioning system installed in the flat! Classically difficult to get with listed buildings, we found an excellent interiorised solution.
As a result there are lots of little secrets in this flat, where we have cleverly tucked away compartments and features of the property! Watch to the end and we reveal one! 🍹 🎉
Working with listed buildings is quite a journey, particularly when a client’s aesthetic is really aligned with ours, and as such, quite contemporary. The permissions process is all about demonstrating value to the listed building. So, despite creating openings in historic masonry (councils hate this), you can (re)introduce historical features that bring the rooms back to a sense of their former glory. This project was in Westminster Council, who have the reputation of being particularly tricky to work in! We got there in the end 💪 and have delivered something we are so incredibly proud of!
Most importantly, we are very grateful to our client, their patience, time, excellent taste, and their general dedication to beautiful design. 🙏 🙏

La Fleur was a 30 sqm micro-apartment with a rooftop terrace accessible via a retractable staircase. It was an empty, aseptic, and mute space. The project required a basic program for 2 people, which could be 3 with the occasional presence of the couple's daughter. The project was resolved with a single move, segmenting the emptied space into two zones to segregate the apartment's uses. This tangency between the two areas was expanded by placing an intermediate piece of furniture that assumed part of the apartment's functional needs, compressing the negative space on either side of this T-shaped piece. One zone houses the daytime program; the other, the nighttime program, above which the new staircase provides access to the terrace.

My latest project features a modern, minimalist row of townhouses. The façade is characterized by clean lines and geometric shapes, with each unit having a boxy, cubic extension that serves as a balcony. The use of monochromatic colors and sharp angles gives the building a sleek and contemporary look.
The layout is a combination of open and private spaces. The ground level includes parking spots directly in front of each unit, with a raised entry porch and stairs. The upper floors have large windows that bring in ample natural light to the living areas enhancing the feeling of spaciousness. The design prioritizes simplicity, functionality, and modern urban living, making it ideal for contemporary residential neighborhoods.

Vaulted ceilings instantly elevate a space. They're perfect for creating a statement wall, showcasing architectural details, or letting in natural light. But are they right for your home?

A newly envisioned design: residences in an Arts and Crafts style, depicted at twilight. This scheme, developed by Gavacan Homes Ltd, will establish seven new residences, comprising two and three-bedroom apartments over four floors. The design was purposefully chosen to integrate seamlessly with the existing locale, further enhancing the neighbourhood.
The property takes on a romantic ambience at night, featuring two distinct gables and centrally positioned chimneys. The varied roofscape adds visual interest to the elevations with its differing scales and configurations. The entrance, inspired by local architecture yet distinct, showcases a four-centred arch with a bespoke front door design. The casement windows, adorned with leaded lights and mullions, complement the first floor's decorative plain tile hanging and the ground floor's facing brickwork and quoins. Timber details are evident throughout, particularly in the front gable and open rafters, reinforcing the style. The development also features red facing brickwork in a dark multi-stock blend, harmonising with the adjacent listed building, contributing to the elegant aesthetic.

This architectural design features a complex, layered structure that exudes modernity and sophistication. The building's façade, a composition of contrasting geometric patterns and materials, creates an engaging visual texture that is both dynamic and rhythmic. The angular forms, accentuated by metallic finishes, give the structure a jewel-like quality. Ground-level openness with inviting public spaces contrasts with the privacy afforded by the intricate upper levels. Greenery interspersed throughout adds a touch of nature, enhancing the building's urban presence. This design could serve as a high-end commercial space or a luxury residential building, and it would be rated highly for its bold aesthetic, incorporation of green spaces, and its potential to become a new landmark within the urban fabric.
The Buckingham Road project features two gable forms connected by an entrance hall and a landing, creating a seamless flow between the spaces. The house includes a family space, playroom, lounge, an office (concealed behind a James Bond-esque bookcase), four bedrooms, a games room and a gym. The prominent use of brick is complemented by glass, concrete, and timber inside and outside the property. Unconventional approaches such as stepped brick piers and brickwork soffits were employed to frame the entrance, while enlarged window openings with outer planes of brickwork provided relief and character. To maximise daylighting and extend the living spaces into the garden, larger glass areas were incorporated at the rear of the house. This includes a two-storey void over the dining room, a corner-opening pocket door leading to a covered veranda with a steel-lined circular roof light, and adaptations of the stepped brickwork and soffit detailing found on the front elevation.
