🏆 Our design for the Penn's Landing Pavilion has won a #WAFX Award in the Carbon and Climate category! It is projected to be Philadelphia's first mass timber and zero carbon structure for public use. The WAFX Awards are for future projects that address major architectural issues facing society and the planet. The overall winner of WAFX will be announced during the live festival in November. The Penn's Landing Pavilion has also been shortlisted in the World Architecture Festival's Civic Future Project category. The new Park at Penn's Landing was developed in collaboration with Hargreaves Jones Landscape Architecture, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The park broke ground in September 2023 and will reconnect Philadelphia to its river's edge by constructing a transformational civic space at the heart of the city's waterfront. The I-95 Central Access Philadelphia (CAP) project will guide pedestrians from city sidewalks to an 11.5-acre park with a series of public amenities and attractions. How can you exhibit a space? How can you exhibit an experience? ✨Join to dive into this immersive architectural journey with us ✨
We are proud to announce the exhibition ‘Aware’ developed by 3XN GXN in collaboration with Danish Architecture Center. The exhibition will be an immersive experience, inviting you to explore the relationship between architecture and the senses. Aware presents the fundamental ingredients of space: not concrete or steel, but relations between bodies and spaces, between human emotions and spatial atmospheres. Aware encourages us to explore and reflect on our experience in space, delving into the behavioral principles behind architecture and their transformative potential. Uncover the hidden questions beneath the surface: 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤? 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙤𝙣 𝙪𝙨, 𝙤𝙣 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡? Aware will be on display from March 22nd – September 15th 2024 at Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center) in #Copenhagen. Join us at the opening on Thursday 21 March from 17:00 to 21:00. All info about the exhibition and official opening: https://lnkd.in/dWtr3-Xx THANK YOU: Aware is made possible with support from Realdania, #KnudHøjgaardsFond, #BeckettFonden, Ole Kirk's Fond, Statens Kunstfond and #NationalbankensJubilæumsfond. BEHIND THE FORMS X SPATIAL METAPHOR North Gallery @northgalleryscut, Guangzhou, China 09/18 - 10/20 2023 Part I | SPATIAL Under such a trend, architecture is often recognized and discussed solely as man-made materials, while its seemingly non-natural features in contrast to the external world are standardized and mechanized, leading to a tendency where the study of relations between architecture and the environment are quantified in terms of regulations, hierarchies, and systems. Thus in the context today where the various doctrines and ideologies are gradually being dissolved and abandoned, the so-called ideal forms directed by certain commoditized and stylized design thinking are gradually emerging, potentially dominating the architectural discourse in almost the entire macro era in terms of materials and technologies. #JXYStudio #culture #art #architecture #exhibition https://lnkd.in/g_3dtgFd

Towards a Circular Architecture in Olympic Venues.
"It is time to take bold collective action towards circular architecture to accelerate the socio-ecological transition. With this goal in mind, The Montréal Olympic Park is launching an international idea competition to reuse and valorize the components of the roof of the Olympic Stadium, an emblematic building in Québec and architectural icon on a Canadian scale. What can be done with hundreds of tons of materials when the current roof of the Montréal Olympic Stadium is dismantled? Will we be able to take up the challenge of this Olympic roof reuse, while being part of a circular architecture approach, thus enhancing the quality of life of citizens impacted by climate change? The international design and architecture communities, both students and professionals, are invited to propose spaces, objects and processes that will constitute an important legacy for our city and for the Province of Québec..." What an amazing initiative!!! https://lnkd.in/eYYkg9gY #tensinetassociation #membranestructures #circulareconomy

| Roca Gallery | TOPIC OF THE MONTH - Migrations, Memory, Recovery Millions of people across the globe are being displaced from their homes in response to extreme situations such as wars and natural disasters. Economic hardship and the lack of opportunities are also provoking a pattern of massive migration to urban areas, resulting in the depopulation of rural communities. Architects have a crucial role in grappling with the conflicts and challenges arising from these developments by providing design strategies for both short-term as well as long-term recovery. Fascinating insights on our latest Topic of the Month - Migrations, Memory, Recovery, from internationally renowned architects, academics and designers including: Dorte Mandrup Delfina Rocco, Architectural Association School of Architecture Hua Li TAO | Trace Architecture Office | 迹 · 建筑事务所 Discover more at Roca Gallery, our platform for listening and exchange around topics of design, sustainability, innovation and architecture: https://bit.ly/3WcRh0C #architectureanddesign

As part of London Festival of Architecture, Brookfield Properties commissioned award-winning architecture practice, NEON, for this year’s public summer installation at City Point. Inspired by the festival’s theme of ‘Reimagine’, ‘SQUIGGLE’ explores the non-linear reality of life. “People make plans to go from A to B, and often picture these plans as direct lines. However, the actual process is irregular. Our path can suddenly change or develop in different directions at the same time. This squiggly line of direction can feel frustrating, but it is the part where we learn, grow and make important realisations of our journey.” Open to the public June to September: https://lnkd.in/deKkTJDY #wheresthebuzz #marketingagency #flexiblemarketingresource #marketing #flexibleresource #LFA #LFA2024 #LFAat20 #LondonFestivalOfArchitecture #installation #publicrealm #architecture #londonarchitecture #communityengagement #publicrealm

Check out our last paper: "Design Strategies for #Circularity: #Km0 #Architecture in the Spanish Mediterranean". We present two ways of understanding sustainability in architecture: the first as a result of policies and the second associated with the design and innovative-based #NewEuropeanBauhaus initiative. This paper fulfills an identified need to study the local understandings of the #BuiltEnvironment that would ensure a more #fair and #inclusive #EuropeanGreenTransformation. Km0 architecture reduces emissions using local resources and mitigates environmental conditions by combining traditional and modern design strategies.
