Since the Folger Shakespeare Library's grand reopening last Friday, the renovation has been featured in publications like The Washington Post and The New York Times, among others. "The change to the building is pervasive, both subtle and transformational," writes Philip Kennicott for The Washington Post. "The more welcoming entrances and amenities provide a public analogue to the Folger’s behind-the-scenes importance as an international cultural institution, obvious to those who know and love Shakespeare, but not always obvious to ordinary visitors to Washington, or Capitol Hill." The Folger houses the world’s largest collection of Shakespeare’s printed works. Over the past ten years, KieranTimberlake has partnered with Folger to provide strategic planning services, culminating in an expanded site and reimagined visitor experience. The 6,000 square foot addition includes a lobby, exhibition halls, learning lab, gift shop, and offices, while vastly improving accessibility and circulation. "For decades, the library’s 82 copies of Shakespeare’s First Folio were locked away in a vault, with access granted only to select scholars," notes Jennifer Schuessler for The New York Times. "But now, anyone can enter the public galleries and see them displayed." 📷 Alan Karchmer / OTTO
