Offensive in the Kursk region: Ukraine uses American bombs, and Britain has given permission to use its equipment. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have enlisted air support in the Kursk region offensive, mainly Soviet fighter jets. According to Forbes, a Ukrainian Su-27 struck the Russian command post in Tyotkino. American JDAM aerial bombs were used in the attack. However, the Ukrainian army is refraining from using F-16 aircraft. They will be used to strengthen air defense and not for riskier ground attacks near the front line, at least initially, the Armed Forces' commander-in-chief said. Meanwhile, Britain has authorized the use of British weapons, including Challenger 2 tanks, for the offensive in the Kursk region, except for long-range Storm Shadow missiles. As of Wednesday evening, the Armed Forces of Ukraine expanded the combat zone in the Kursk Region. The Ukrainian military operation also provoked a collapse of transportation on Russian railways in the regions bordering Ukraine and Belarus. This results from a large-scale transfer of troops to the Kursk region. https://lnkd.in/dFmAPjsw

South Korea and the United States will launch the annual Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) military exercise from August 19 to 29, aimed at enhancing joint defense readiness against North Korean threats. The exercise will involve computer simulations, field training, and civil defense drills, with approximately 19,000 South Korean troops participating. Notably, it includes 48 field training events and increased brigade-level exercises. This year's drills will address threats from North Korean missiles, GPS jamming, and cyberattacks, reflecting insights from recent conflicts. The North has criticized such exercises as invasion rehearsals, leading to heightened tensions. The chairman of South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff has instructed troops to respond promptly to any provocations during the exercises. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #SouthKorea Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/gYtTxq_e

Concerns over a broader conflict in the Middle East have led international airlines to suspend flights to the region or avoid the affected airspace. U.S. officials have indicated they are preparing for potential significant attacks by Iran or its allies as soon as this week. The Pentagon has deployed a guided missile submarine to the region, while an aircraft carrier strike group, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln and equipped with F-35 fighters, is en route. These developments follow a conversation between Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, during which Gallant reported that Iran was preparing for a large-scale military attack on Israel. #MiddleEastTensions #AirlineSuspensions #MilitaryMovements #IranIsraelConflict #USDefense #smartnewspk #smartnews
