I’ve been writing every week for almost a year now for my Kickstarter blog. Although it’s ostensibly about crowdfunding, it’s really more generally about making things. There’s been a broad range of subjects, so over the next few weeks I’ll be writing a mini series summarising and linking to some of my articles so far. If there’s one single theme throughout the whole thing, it’s that doing is the most important part, and it’s also the part you have most control over. You can choose to do something rather than not do something. Once you have that mindset, you can overcome everything else and you can make anything. https://lnkd.in/djUwMSJU

Imagine turning passionate followers into investors. That's equity crowdfunding in a nutshell. Before, startup funding was an elite game. Now, it’s a community effort. Here’s how to turn interest into investment in 5 easy steps: 1. **Craft Your Story** - Start with why. Why your project? Why now? Your story isn't just what you tell people; it's what they believe about you. 2. **Select Your Platform** - Not all platforms are created equal. Research and choose one that aligns with your vision and target audience. 3. **Set Your Terms** - Decide how much equity you're offering and at what valuation. Transparency wins trust. 4. **Launch a Marketing Blitz** - Before you go live, create buzz. Utilize social media, email newsletters, and networking to spread the word. 5. **Engage Your Investors** - Once they've invested, keep them in the loop. Regular updates make investors feel valued and part of the journey. Transitioning from an idea to a crowd-funded reality is no small feat, but it's more possible today than ever before. Ready to turn your followers into shareholders? Let’s start a conversation about your next big move.

My clients often ask if Testing The Waters campaigns convert to successful Reg-CF raises. My answer typically challenges the underlying assumption - just because you list a TTW campaign, doesn't mean you'll be successful. A successful TTW campaign requires a solid business plan and planned return to investors, PLUS a diligent effort from issuers to properly "warm up" their crowd and execute a successful marketing campaign. I see the benefits of #TTW as: 1) it can set the right expectations about what it takes to run a successful crowdfunding campaign; and 2) it's a low(er) cost way to measure investor interest BEFORE spending the money it costs to launch a formal fundraise. Spoiler alert - investors are often just not that into you, your offer, or your level of effort. https://lnkd.in/gqDHznJz

Excited to announce that CLIQ is now crowdfunding! 🚀 Pre-register here - https://lnkd.in/gh2dnB_R Last year, I found myself in a place of wanting to meet people after making the move to London with the acquisition of my first business. Nicola Gunby and I were on the hunt for our next venture when the idea of CLIQ started keeping us up at night… We both had experienced firsthand the challenges of meeting new people and realised the negative impact that social media is having on our lives – it's making us less connected. At CLIQ, our mission is to change the way that we use social media, and start using our phones for good. Do you want to join us on this journey to impact billions of lives? Our traction so far… 💥 20k+ downloads with 0 marketing spend 💥 Weekly Active Users of 43%, Daily Active Users of 23% 💥 Waitlist of 100k users for V1 💥 A core team of 5 people 💥 Currently building V1 to supercharge the app 💥 3x exited founders in current team 💥 5x exited founders in first investment round 💥 Advisory board with key people in the space (more to be announced!) 💥 Partnerships being built with the biggest brands and influencers in fitness and wellness 💥 Ads platform in development for communities to monetise What does this mean? It means you can register your interest to buy shares in CLIQ and become part of this vital mission to change the way we connect. We're not just building communities for people; we're creating our own CLIQ community, and we want YOU to be part of it. With investments starting as low as £50, you can now own a piece of CLIQ and embark on this incredible journey with us. Interested? At least once per week, innovators ask me if crowdfunding is a viable way to launch their product. Well, it depends... Let's get into it. It can take $100,000 to $1,000,000+ to design, engineer, and mass-produce a novel electronic device. To solely rely upon crowdfunding dollars to pay for ALL of the expenses associated with product development is a challenge... It is doable, but it is not easy. Three stages where I've seen folks implement crowdfunding as a means to get through product development, in decreasing risk, are: 1. Have an idea. Do crowdfunding. Hope to fund entire journey. (most risk) 2. Have industrial design / realistic renderings completed. Have a looks-like prototype. Do crowdfunding. Hope to fund ME, EE, FW, Prototyping, Mass Production with crowdfunding raise. 3. Get all ID,ME, EE, FW everything done and fully understand your manufacturing timelines and costs. THEN go launch a crowdfunding campaign basically as a **marketing/pre-sales exercise**. This is the least risky but will require the most upfront capital. Without consulting a product development firm, prior to launching a campaign, it can be difficult to estimate costs and timeline associated with product development and manufacturing. Reminder, crowdfunding does not need to be your ONLY source of funds. It can be a proof of viability and demand. Then, use the success of the campaign to raise additional funds elsewhere. Knowledge is power. The more you know, the better you can dial in your campaign and overall business strategy. Ok. Great... We know when and why we launch a campaign.... HOW do we launch a crowdfunding campaign? Check out Mark Pecota 🚀 's video below for the free Kickstarter Masterclass! #ProductDevelopment #Manufacturing #Crowdfunding #Electronics
Took 2 months, but it's finally done! My completely free Kickstarter Masterclass. A couple months back I realized there wasn't one video someone could watch to learn how to launch their crowdfunding campaign. So I thought... "why not create one?" It took a few months but it's here, meaning there's no need for you to jump between different guides to get the complete picture. Just watch this one video and you'll understand the 17 steps to launching a successful Kickstarter this year. This is a fantastic piece of content by Mark Pecota 🚀. Most of our clients who come to us don't even know that #crowdfunding is a great way to launch and take new #ideas to the #market. Validating your idea is a huge part of the overall #productlaunch phase, the only thing is if you can integrate #productdevelopment and design into this, a huge number of projects will have a better chance of hitting their funding goals. We see so many potential campaigns that eventually fail to hit #production or mass appeal, just because they did not understand product development and did not go through the process before launching thinking a factory overseas can directly help them out.

Crowdfunding mobilizes $1.3 billion for innovation funding annually and that amount is projected to more than double in the next five years. Despite crowdfunding’s many benefits, however, numerous campaigns still fail. On Kickstarter alone, 59% of campaigns do not reach their initial funding goal, let alone progress further.
