Our #office baking-competition is back. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱? With a discussion among colleagues: Who makes the best brownies? 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴? Every couple of months we are hosting a bake-off in the office. We pick a special theme and 4-5 colleagues volunteer to contribute a dish. Colleagues from different teams and functions get together to try the food and pick their favorite. The winner receives highest appreciation and an invitation to defend their title at the next competition. Today's theme was: "Savory in three colors". #culture #employeeengagement #funatwork

Recently, National Pork Board hosted its inaugural Home Base Week – three full days of almost our entire NPB staff team working together in our headquarters for face-to-face collaboration. The necessity of a week like this highlights the significant shift in the work environment for all companies over the past few years; there was a time not so long ago that an all-staff in-person meeting was more of an average Tuesday than a marquee event. But making the extra effort to bring everyone together was invaluable. My top three takeaways from the week: 1. Spending time together in-person creates collaboration and builds relationships, two important aspects of our work at NPB. 2. Learning has no limit. We can always listen, ask more questions and expand our knowledge of the industry. 3. Stepping away from day-to-day work to connect as a full staff team prepares us to better serve America’s pig farmers. These takeaways also renew my commitment to make the effort for direct, in-person connection with others, most importantly the farmers the Checkoff serves. Technology makes it easier than ever to make the phone call, join the zoom meeting, or send a text. But nothing replaces the discussion across the table. Just like Home Base Week, it requires more effort to make it happen. But, in the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort.” In the coming weeks, the pork industry has a great opportunity to reconnect face-to-face at the 2024 World Pork Expo in Des Moines, IA. That depends on who you are, where you live, or how you like to celebrate those EXTRA days of responsible irresponsibility! Memorial Day signals the "official beach opening day." Or, since we live in Florida, it's the day the lifeguards are on duty full-time and the artsy beach shops, restaurants, and ice cream meccas open EARLIER. Grocery stores will be shopper chaos over BOGOs on hot dogs, buns, deli meat, and condiments. Yes, I have more than one variety of mustard, mayo, ketchup, and hot sauce in the pantry/fridge at all times 𝗦𝗼, 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱? Shoppers will spend upwards of $7.7 billion this holiday preparing for family gatherings, and consumers will eat 818 million pounds of our favorite BBQ meats. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲? As analysts, we track these "season" to help our clients understand if their promotions are effective, if they have the right assortment with the "trendy flavors, colors, or ingredients," and if their shelf placement maximizes sales and minimizes out-of-stocks. Yes, Memorial Day week fast approaches, then July 4th, then Labor Day, and then summer and the season is over. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 "𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻." The new Marks and Spencer TV advert stood out to me last night. Firstly, I just love sourdough, so they immediately had my attention. Then ambassador chef Mark Moriarty appeared, significantly enhancing the ad's credibility and drawing me in even further. With my marketing hat on, I found the advert to be perfectly on brand. The simplicity of the message, focusing on just one product out of thousands, is brilliant. Highlighting quality, craftsmanship, and premium ingredients (things I value when buying food) is a reminder to marketers that knowing clearly what your value proposition as a brand is and communicating it effectively is a great way to attract attention and connect with the right audience. #Marketing #Branding #MarksAndSpencer #ValueProposition #Quality #PremiumProducts #Sourdough #BrandAmbassador #CustomerEngagement #RetailMarketing

This campaign embraces diversity and celebrates different preferences or.... tourists. Grounded Marketing: It's evident the marketing team is tuned in to the community. This campaign leverages an understanding of a cultural change, that purposely left Heinz out of the conversation. Adorable and Functional: Beyond just being cute, the campaign cleverly uses the way that we would use their iconic glass bottle and highlights the logo crest. Less is more. A perfect 10/10! Chicagoans are famously averse to putting ketchup on hot dogs, with some restaurants declining to serve the condiment altogether. Now, Heinz is punching back with billboards launching today that dispense ketchup packets outside well-known Chicago hot dog stands.
