In 2023, the art of glassmaking was included in the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Now, the Federation of Crystal and Glass (Fédération du Cristal et du Verre) has decided to pay tribute to this extraordinary material in a dedicated exhibition: "Les gestes verriers”. This show will take place from 21st September 2024 to 19th January 2025 along the railings of the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, offering visitors the chance to discover the beauty of glass, the craftsmanship involved in its creation, and a great deal more. There will be 80 photographs on display, coming from 33 workshops throughout France, including those of Zignago Vetro. Glass blowing is not only a skill: it is an art, which should be recognized and protected. It is not only us who say so, but also UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. On 6th December, this body decided to register the knowledge, craft and skills of handmade glass production in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Seeing the importance and the beauty of the art of glassmaking recognized is, for us who experience it every day, extremely moving. My latest article, about the new exhibition at Galeria Municipal do Porto 🍂 The gallery has held an exciting position in Porto's cultural scene, determined to investigate and expose the relationship between the city and its natural environment, through contemporary art. "On a journey between mythology and tradition, rurality and creativity, I felt this exhibition as a true love letter to our North. After some time in the gallery, the experience becomes truly magical, a foretaste of how these montains, rivers, forests and creatures are responding to the 'reconstruction of climates, identities, mythologies and narratives.'” Read it here:
