KENZO PROUDLY SUPPORTS THE FRENCH JUDO FEDERATION IN PARIS
To accompany the France Judo athletes for this world-anticipated sports event, KENZO’s Artistic Director #Nigo has imagined an outfit that nods to the sport’s Japanese origins: the team will wear the same Kimono-inspired suit that was unveiled during the Fall/Winter 2023 runway show.

Holding the European mainstream and adapted kata championship at the same time without the need to additionally promote inclusion is the final step towards inclusion. When we don’t have to mention the word inclusion and we hold this kind of European Championship completely naturally, only then we have achieved enormous progress, not only in judo but in the world of sport in general. Today, the European Judo Union is an example of a wider social influence in all sports.

In this instance judo is a cohesive force but also a medicine, a much needed healing agent for women who have chosen to re-take control of their challenging lives in the most positive way possible.

#StrategicPlanningInOlympicSports
Olympics is not just about sporting talent and funding.
There is a lot of strategic thinking and planning needed to match the natural talent, with training in sports & disciplines that get medals in larger numbers.
As Karan Nangia , the lead in Anglian Medal Hunt Company writes in his post on the Olympics and its strategic thinking in India.
At the first Olympic Games in 1896 there were nine sports contested: Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics, Cycling (Road & Track), Fencing, Shooting, Swimming, Tennis, Weightlifting, Greco-Roman Wrestling.
In 2024 in Paris there will officially be 32 sports contested, and one less than in 2021, and in 2028 there may be up to 36 sports.
Phelps is ranked as the most decorated Olympian in history with 18 Olympic gold medals. He was advantaged by the high number of medals available in swimming.
It was a lot easier for him to win multiple medals at each Olympic Games than an exceptional athlete in a team sport such as football, handball and hockey where there is only one of each medal available at each Olympiad.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games there were 33 sports with 50 disciplines, and a total of 339 events, with maximum in athletics at 48 then in swimming at 37.
Rest all have 15 and below.

Out of the 329 gold medals on offer at the 2024 Olympics, disciplines like Aquatics, Athletics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Fencing, Taekwondo, Judo , Rowing and Canoeing comprise 202 out of them. In these either we have very little representation or barring Neeraj Chopra no one is in medal contention.
Long term development programmes are being run in Judo and Swimming which should bear fruit in the next 8-10 years. But to be a sporting powerhouse we must target some of these sports.
India has traditionally done well in combat sports like Wrestling and Boxing so it's a little surprising why Judo and Taekwondo have not developed in the same way.
How does a small country with a population of just 10 million outperform giants like India, with its 1.3 billion people, in the Olympics?
Over the past year, I've had the pleasure of witnessing the work and plans of Israel's Olympic association as they prepare for Paris 2024 and LA 2028. Here are a few key factors that contribute to their success:
1. Leadership and Mentorship: The Israeli Olympic Committee is led by Yael Arad, an impressive leader who won the country's first medal in 1992. Other heroic past winners, such as Oren Smadga and Gal Friedman, mentor the young athletes who now achieve these medals.
2. Hard Work: Each athlete sacrifices a lot personally, physically, and mentally to be the best of the best. The effort and investment by these individuals are incredible, from being away from family for months to adhering to a very strict training regimen.
3. Follow the science: The IOC scientific team, led by Muli Epstein, invests in research in collaboration with institutions like the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. This research optimizes training and performance.
This is not a miracle or coincidence.
Hard work and investment deliver results.
Chapeau Muli Epstein and the entire IOC team!
