Today, on World Menopause Day I couldn't be prouder to be part of a community who's driving forward such meaningful change for every woman in the workplace. Whether the menopause is impacting you now, or will do in the future, resetting the agenda for the benefit of all is a huge milestone. WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership ) is launching a Menopause Policy for the industry to adopt and or adapt to better support women progress in their careers and realise their full potential. It is relatively well accepted now that women have more complex health needs, but these conditions still remain one of the biggest barriers to women’s career progression. To address this, WACL is introducing the ‘Be a Women’s Health Hero’ initiative which will address the four main life-changing challenges for women: periods, fertility, maternity and menopause. Thanks as ever to the trailblazing women driving this agenda forward for WACL and beyond Nishma Patel Robb Melissa Robertson Lianre Robinson Kate Rowlinson and everyone who's worked so hard to get to this point. And it's only the beginning.

It started with a rant… Do you know those moments when all your conversations focus on or around one subject? Earlier this year, we had one of those moments and our topic - the menopause.  While there was plenty to rant about, we also learned some amazing facts from Dr. Rachel Taylor about how society needs, and should, celebrate this time in our lives. For example, she told us that the word ‘crone’ means ‘crowned’ and the wise woman of the village was revered. However rather than just ranting to ourselves, we decided to team up with Perspectus Global and look a little deeper into some of the areas that were getting under our skin.  And this is the result, our newly released White Paper reflecting on menopause in the workplace in 2023. It is celebrating and observing midlife women from different cultures and observing the benefits they bring to an organisation. The White Paper includes comments from a range of experts including our recruitment guru Emma Freivogel founder of Radical Recruit and B-Radical, as well as brand new research, surveying women of Britain and their employers.
