Have you ever 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 or 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 an offer for an MSc programme at Trinity Business School? If so, I need your insights today!
A year ago, I had to decide if, where, and in which field I wanted to obtain my Master’s degree. Should I chase the sun, study one or two more years, stick to Marketing, or switch to HRM? I had to make these decisions under uncertainty and with a significant investment involved.
I want to improve this. As part of my dissertation for my MSc in Human Resource Management at Trinity Business School, I aim to facilitate the decision-making process for postgraduate applicants.

✅ Former offer-holders who ultimately 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥 at Trinity Business School
✅ Current postgraduate offer-holders at Trinity Business School
✅ Current MSc students at Trinity Business School
✅ Postgraduate Alumni from Trinity Business School

I’m thrilled to announce that I have completed my Bachelor's degree with a 3.93 GPA! 👨🎓
My mentor once told me that investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make.
This has truly energized my educational journey, which has been an incredible and unforgettable experience.
I am now taking the next big step in investing in my future by starting my MBA with Purdue.
Here's to continuous learning and personal growth!

In college, it's becoming evident that many courses lack the rigor needed to foster critical thinking and deep understanding. Out of numerous classes, only a handful have truly challenged me—requiring extensive library sessions, visits to professors' office hours, and a deep dive into the subject matter. This pattern reflects a broader issue: a shift away from intellectual rigor across universities. With a growing emphasis on ease over intellectual engagement, colleges risk producing graduates with limited analytical skills and shallow understanding. This undermines educational standards and future success. As we navigate this landscape, it's crucial to advocate for a return to academic excellence, ensuring that every course encourages students to think critically and engage deeply with the material. What's your take on the state of critical thinking in higher education today?

The key points of my experience at a Case Class at Harvard Business School can be summed up as follows:
1. If your MBA Program measures up to the best standards of how Case Classes may be conducted then instead of wasting your money on offline and online/digital media one should ask the prospective students or Faculty to attend the live classes as observers as I did when I visited Harvard University
2. Two first year MBA students led by Miss Diana Hoskins accosted me from a Central Office to the MBA first semester class at Aldrich Hall where the class was planned
3. I could see they had top class Technical infrastructure with 3 white boards (each expandable to two by flipping up and down so total 6 whiteboards) and above each three was the option for white screen for Ppt.
4. Unlike what our AICTE says there were 90 students but it was an amphitheater with hanging mikes to enable the students to be audible to others
5. There was more discussion among the students than between the Professor and Students
6. The Faculty Professor Paul Marshall used to write on white board all the contributions made by the students even those which sounded weird. There was no criticism of any ideas
7. All the ideas were discussed on merit towards resolving the case.
8. Case method requires a very high degree of democracy and free speech which Indian Professors may not be comfortable with
9. Case discussions enthused, excited the students and the whole atmosphere was very educative and rewarding
Is authentic assessment becoming another education buzzword?
Three Key Principles for Rethinking Authentic Assessment
(from Jan MacArthur's 2023 paper)
1. shift the focus from the world of work to a broader understanding of what we value as a society
2. understand why tasks are valuable, connecting the significance of tasks to societal well-being.
3. challenge students not just to fit into the current system but to contribute to positive change.
Going to give this some more thought...
What do you think.. does authentic simply mean a "real-world" task or could it be so much more?
Significance of Visiting Faculty @ B-Schools
As someone who has taught as guest/visiting faculty at B-schools, I can attest to the profound impact visiting professors have on students' learning journeys. Their practical wisdom, drawn from years of industry experience, offers invaluable insights beyond textbooks. I've witnessed how students benefit from real-life anecdotes and case studies, which enrich their learning and prepare them for the complexities of the business world. Moreover, visiting professors often bring fresh perspectives and informal teaching methods, igniting students' passion for learning. Their presence not only enhances academic excellence but also fosters a culture of continuous growth and employability, preparing them for success in the business world.

In my 15-year academic journey—10 years for class 10th, 2 years for +2, and 3 years for graduation—I faced challenges with unwavering determination. Each class, every season, and even during the pandemic, I embraced the struggle to understand concepts at my own pace.
Holding that hard-earned degree isn't just about a piece of paper; it symbolizes endurance, sacrifices, and the triumph of honest effort over shortcuts. For students like me, it's not a formality but a testament to dedication and countless sacrifices.
So, when others reduce it to a mere piece of paper, I remember the resilience, heartache, and tears that shaped my academic journey. My degree isn't just paper; it's a testimony to the indomitable spirit that defines me. I won, but at what cost? To hear that a degree is just a piece of paper? Please, don't say that; it hurts.
