AfrikaBurn 2025 #AfrikaBurn is an annual #art and community event held in the Tankwa Karoo desert in South Africa. Similar to the famous Burning Man held in the Nevada desert, USA, AfrikaBurn follows the same principles of self-reliance, self-expression, participation, and non-commercialism.   Main Characteristics of AfrikaBurn: Art and Expression: The creation and exhibition of art is a central part of the event. Large-scale art installations are built, many of which are burned at the end of the event. Community and Participation: Attendees (called "burners") are not merely spectators; they are expected to actively participate in creating the event experience. Self-Reliance and Autonomy: Participants must be self-sufficient in terms of water, food, and shelter. There are no shops or commerce, as everything operates on a gifting and barter system. Creative Economy Moves The other day, I read that Kendrick Lamar, the iconic hip-hop artist and 17-time Grammy winner, is set to bring grand-scale concerts to the heart of Africa through a groundbreaking Global Citizen Initiative. Mark your calendars for December 6th, when Kendrick is set to ignite Rwanda! Thanks to the Global Citizens, these concerts will be held across the African continent over the next five years. On a different note, it has come to my attention that Uzbekistan, yet not so known worldwide, but very vibrant and talented country in CIS, is the chosen stage for the upcoming World Conference on Creative Economy 2024. It's truly promising to see how the creative economy can provide significant opportunities for the global community. This empowers creative talents worldwide, fostering a more inclusive and equitable global creative landscape.

Exciting news from @BBC about the Great Lakes region! The potential meeting between Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and D.R. Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi is a rare and much-needed gift for the millions of suffering children and adults in East DRC. This is a significant step towards hope, peace, and progress. Despite the challenges, it is encouraging to anticipate these two leaders coming together to discuss peace. For far too long, this region has endured conflict. Peace has always been an elusive albeit regulating slice of the humanitarian, development, and peace nexus. This meeting is a humbling step towards finding a lasting resolution. We must never lose hope in the pursuit of peace.
