Against the backdrop of a continued higher interest rate environment and arguably weakening economy, the following will be carefully watched during the Bank Earnings Season: unrealized losses on banks' balance sheets, commercial real-estate losses, profits from lending (e.g., Net Interest Margin), liquidity, credit-card delinquencies, and investment-banking fees. “More than 300 banks had half of their assets in securities in the third quarter, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data analyzed by The Wall Street Journal showed. At roughly 100 of those banks, the total was more than 75%.
