From Intern Tears to ESG Dreams! I decided to post my first exciting toilet selfie at DNeX! It was my first day of internship, and I was so nervous 😂 The first thing I was told to do was read the integrated report, and I was so clueless, just enjoying all the graphics in there. While waiting for my supervisor, Mohd Hariz Nazimuddin, to finish his meeting, I browsed the Sustainability Statement. It sparked some serious introspection - was ESG the right path for me? (Fun fact: There were a few tears shed during that first week!) My team was amazing, but the transition from student to corporate life was a challenge. (Independent woman in the making, but maybe not this kind of independence!) During a lunch session with my HOD, Ms. Sharifah Kasim, and my SV, the nerves kicked in again! But I answered their questions honestly, sharing my life goals and aspirations. I emphasized my eagerness to learn and explore new things. Fast forward, I ended my internship with a wealth of experience! I'm incredibly grateful to my colleagues for putting up with my Gen Z humor😂 (and occasional goof-ups). On November 2023, they surprised me with a job offer! (Yes, at that point, I was fully on board with becoming a 'corporate woman'.) This journey wasn't always easy. There were late nights, tears (my mom got a lot of calls!), and moments of self-doubt. But this experience has truly shaped me, and I'm excited to see what the future holds in the world of ESG! P.S. Now that I love my ESG career, I'm always open to tips for excelling in this field!

Every day, I spend $1 and 3 hours commuting to work and back. At 6:30 am, I put one foot through the crowded subway door, hoping it stays open long enough for me to squeeze in. Having finished my internship, I wanted to share my experience and what I've learned. This was my first formal introduction to ESG, and interning at Crédit Agricole opened my eyes to how companies globally are working to integrate ESG into their operations. As a freshman intern, my primary tasks were research-oriented as a part of corporate coverage. During my internship, I researched three primary markets: • China's Petrochemicals: Olefins and aromatics. EV focused transitions • China's Property Markets: Continued decline of housing market post-pandemic • Global Crop Protection: Global destocking and volume, interest rates, FOREX rates, and inflation, especially in Latin America I'd be lying if I said that starting the day at 6 am, working full-time, taking a class, and participating in a summer intensive with a 12-hour time difference wasn't difficult. The first week was particularly hard. However, I've learned more this summer than ever before and changed the most as a student, worker, and person. I became more confident, resilient, and gained more direction.

We are super excited to announce that Arya Gadage will be joining Thresher Fixed as our newest Quantitative Intern. The response to our internship post was tremendous. We spent a lot of time talking to passionate, smart people and we expect will do so again. Arya joins Rylan Schendel to round out Thresher’s team of interns. The future rests on the shoulders of the next generation. Knowing we might have a small part in helping shape careers in the asset management space and that they might have a big part in shaping our work and culture is a pretty good feeling. At our core is a fixed income base that can be leveraged to systematically deliver performance across institutional IG benchmarks and in the total return space. Heightened rate volatility, bifurcated and diametrically opposed views on risk premia, both in equities and fixed income, mean opportunities abound for macro agnostic, systematic strategies that have a strong fundamental underpinning. Arya and Rylan will help us drive forward that vision of a modern fixed income manager. Our interns will work on the optimization of existing strategies and with research as we build out new strategies to take advantage of the seismic shift in the investment and data landscapes. It’s a great time to be investors and we look forward to working as a team. Arya Gadage Rylan Schendel
