What's happening around the world is important. What's happening in our nation is important. What's happening in Alabama is important. What's happening in Jefferson County is important. As a Sikh, incidents like these weigh heavily on my heart. It's distressing to see innocent lives threatened and the fear that permeates public spaces. Our leaders must prioritize initiatives that address the root causes of violence while fostering a culture of empathy and accountability. Ultimately, we must come together as a community to ensure that our public spaces are safe for all. Following complaints from residents and local businesses around Manchester, particularly regarding dangerous driving and inconsiderate parking around schools, we recently collaborated with Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council, and their Neighbourhood Compliance Team in the Gorton area to tackle the issue. Each week, we organised 'Action Days' in partnership with different agencies and schools to address illegal parking and untaxed vehicles. Our enforcement team quickly identified contraventions and took appropriate action. The aim of these days was to educate parents and children on the importance of parking correctly around schools. Additionally, we aimed to demonstrate the positive impact of our presence in keeping children safe and improving road safety during busy times.
