I would like to get your attention for 5 minutes to discuss something that could benefit young people.
Can we, as teachers and mentors, help the younger people who are exposed to vulnerability, which can have a knock-on effect on many things like grooming, selling drugs, and county lines?
We cannot turn a blind eye to this.
Grooming is an alarming issue that preys on the vulnerability of our youth. Predators manipulate and exploit young individuals. It's crucial that we educate ourselves and young people about the signs of grooming and how to stay safe online.
County lines involve criminal gangs exploiting vulnerable young people and coercing them into transporting drugs across different areas. It's a form of modern-day slavery that ruins lives and tears families apart.
Drug dealing puts young people and many families at risk of exposure to prison, debt, attacks, and even death. It's a cycle that I feel can't come to an end safely.
We cannot afford to be silent about these issues any longer. It's time to stand together as a community, raise awareness, and protect the vulnerable and young people.
