How have I sabotaged myself in the past, and what can I learn from those experiences? The fifth step in the Eight Steps of Appraisal Preparation is to Get Out of My Own Way. The biggest barrier in our way is most likely ourselves. We get stuck when we listen to our inner critic, encounter self-limiting beliefs, and make assumptions about ourselves and others. Examples of self-sabotaging critics include: 🌟 Other people are better at this than me. 🌟 Success doesn’t happen to people like me. The Appraisal Preparation Workbook helps you to reflect, identify areas that need improvement, and plan your appraisal. The fourth step of the Eight Steps to Goal Setting Success is to take a look at your Resources and Support. When we set up or ‘hack’ our environment to support our goals, they become easier to implement. Our motivations, decisions, and desires will only get us so far. Examples include: 🌟 Tidy desk. 🌟 Reducing commitments. 🌟 Limiting distractions. 🌟 Surround yourself with the right people. 🌟 Filter the information you are reading. By setting up your environment whilst thinking about your resources and support network, you are setting yourself up for success. The Goal Setting Workbook is designed to help you identify the resources and supports that are available to you. What are the assumption in architectural practice that are holding it back? I’ll go first with three of my favourites: → Every architectural brief should be answered with a building. → The way we’ve always practiced is the way we should continue to. → That more (typologies, projects, status) is more. What other assumptions might architects let go of? #workshops #coaching #architects #architecture #architecturalpractice #leadership

Supporting architects in mastering a creative model of leadership to build a more adaptable and efficient practice | Unleash the collective energy, passion, and capabilities of your people | Architecture Leadership Coach
Many architecture practices are hurting right now. There’s uncertainty in the economy, flowing into the building industry, and costs just keep going up. Imagine if you already had the solution? You do. It's you and your team. The way you lead your business through practice challenges is the key to success. The irony is it's skills we’re not taught in architecture school. The thing we need most right now is skills you need to learn elsewhere. That's where Unmeasured can help. I teach architects how to be great leaders of practice. Do your practice, your team and yourself a service, and develop your human skills for a more durable practice. Introducing The Culture of Practice. With as little as an hour invested, you will come away better equipped to survive these market conditions. Over the next two weeks I’ll be posting more here, but if you can’t wait, you can read more here: https://lnkd.in/giAYPxy6 or book in a time for a free Practice Clarity Consultation: https://lnkd.in/gNUBBjCP #workshops #coaching #architects #architecture #architecturalpractice #culture

Supporting architects in mastering a creative model of leadership to build a more adaptable and efficient practice | Unleash the collective energy, passion, and capabilities of your people | Architecture Leadership Coach
Is professional isolation holding back innovation in architecture? Architects aren't alone in isolating themselves from external voices. And this insular approach can lead to stagnation and missed opportunities. By introducing new ways of seeing and thinking, architects can: → Extend our professional networks → Create goodwill → Open up unexpected opportunities → Gain valuable insights into our strengths and weaknesses How can we encourage more cross-pollination of ideas between architecture and other fields? #coaching #architects #architecture #architecturalpractice #leadership

What if you did the opposite of what other architects doing? It can be effective when stuck in a design problem. Why not in practice? How might doing the opposite transform your practice and the value you deliver to clients? For example: → Instead of doing full services, offer design concepts only. → Instead of reducing your fees to win projects, increase them. → Instead of doing everything in BIM, hand draw only. → Instead of bespoke, offer from a catalogue of designs. → Instead of bigger, offer smaller. What unconventional practice model could revolutionise the way you serve clients? #designpractice #coaching #architects #architecture #architecturalpractice #leadership

Architects, is your practice on fear or opportunity? "What are you not doing, in fear it might not work?" Architecture practice requires courage. It's easy to follow the well-worn path. But innovation and adaptability comes from a willingness to be different. Which assumptions do you need to question and test? What’s the change in your practice you’re avoiding out of fear? #workshops #coaching #architects #architecture #architecturalpractice #leadership
